Astrology, mythology, politics, ecology, cooking, music esp traditional and folk.
Music
Traditional and folk, classical, also anything which makes a glorious racket. Lots of stuff I hear casually, but haven't listed to mainstream music for so long that I'm really out of touch so I don't know what half of it is.
Most of the music I listen to comes from Russ Chandler, the perils of being a musician's wife I suppose.
I also have little choice than to listen to early 20th Century banjo music courtesy of Russ, so it's a good job that I quite like it.
Books
Astrological:
Rob Hand - Horoscope Symbols; Sue Tompkins - Aspects in Astrology, Contemporary Astrologers Handbook; William Lilly - Christian Astrology; Richard Idemon - Magic Thread, Through the Looking Glass; John Frawley - The Real Astrology, The Real Astrology Applied, The Horary Textbook, Sports Astrology; Dennis Elwell - Cosmic Loom; Geoffrey Cornelius - Moment of Astrology; Charles Harvey - Animae Mundi; Charles Harvey and Mike Harding - Working with Astrology; Mike Harding - Hymns to the Ancient Gods; Nicholas Campion - Book of World Horoscopes; Charles Harvey, Michael Baigent and Nicholas Campion - Mundane Astrology
Fiction:
Ian McKewan - Attonement (yes I know it's fashionable but I loved this book when I first read it and having just read it again I think it's even better), Amsterdam, Saturday; A S Bayatt - Possession; Margaret Atwood - The Blind Assassin; Pat Barker - Regeneration, The Eye in the Door, The Ghost Road; Sebastian Faulks - Birdsong, On Green Dolphin Street;
Non-Fiction
Kate Fox - Watching the English;
Heroes
I don't really do heros but the following are those that I admire for a variety of reasons (in no particular order):
Marie Currie; Tycho Brahe; Tom Paine; Paul Weller; George Monbiot; George Orwell; Karl Marx; Dali Lama; Nelson Mandela; Mark Kermode; Elizabeth David; Everyone who served in SOE during WWII; All those whose names we do not know who have given their lives in the cause of freedom.
First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.
Just a reminder that Clerkenwell's best Monday Night Folk Night will next be taking place on Monday 2nd November, featuring: Chris Sarjeant and Emma Scarr, plus floor spots and more
Emma Scarr has been active on London’s live scene for approaching two decades. A proficient performer on guitar, fiddle and banjo, in recent years she has concentrated on song craft.
Chris Sarjeant has been recently described as,".a very major addition to the British Folk Scene.." by BBC Folk-musician of the year Tom McConville who added that his guitar work is "...impeccable.."
If you have walked in the heart of the Greenwood and have bathed in the light of its living force remember what you have felt; and whenever you pass a tree whether it stands alone in a wilderness of human making or in the depth of woodland, give a moment of your time to listen to its voice. For in many parts of the land the trees are dying only the hearts that know something of the true wisdom can save them. (Anon)
Time to welcome in the Summer, health and happiness.
This years festival is headlined by Billy Bragg (Friday), Seth Lakeman (Sunday) and Peatbog Faeries (Saturday) with many more top artists also performing incl the award winning The Demon Barbers.

..I belief in
artgeneering...
the artist is only a medium, connected to the spirits around him-
translating vibes into symbolic shapes to reinitialize the ancient way
of using language...
the way of light and color...
without the disguise of words, right through the passage of our eyes...
to reach hearts and souls without taking the intelectual loop way...
natural formulas in an unnatural world...pure and uncensored...
awakening the visiual awareness, the centre of our inner universe...
to let it shine in the way it has allways been before these annoying
times,
that keep us away from our natural mission...
to stay connected with our great mother earth and her deep spirit of
freedom and peace...
we have to regain our nearly lost nativeness,
to stop this wheel of opression and iniquity that haunts our world and
our hearts...it's time for the rainbow warriors :-)

........~ Each New Day ~
-------------------------------------------
..
Each day is a brand new beginning
Each day brings a brand new life
Each day brings plenty of sunshine
And happiness and sorrow and strife.
Each day brings with it a new dawn
Each new day brings smiles and tears
Each day brings us lots of challenges
Each new day brings us sorrows and fears.
Each new day will not be like the last one
Each new day will bring excitement anew
Each new day will bring us new friends
Like it did the first day I met each of you.
But no matter what each new day brings
I know our Lord Jesus will be by my side
There is nothing we can't conquer together
I will walk with my head held up with pride...
