Described as a 'melodically gifted songstress with a big future,' Australian singer/songwriter Claire Wyndham has been turning heads since her first public performance in 2002. Within twelve months she had played showcases at Australia's premier music venue, "The Basement," performed with the likes of Ben Harper, Jack Johnson and Kasey Chambers at the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival, had a song included on the soundtrack of Aussie surf film, "Liquid Bridge," and professionally recorded five of her songs. Not bad - this is one young lady who doesn't muck around.
Her career quickly progressed from that first performance…In 2004, one of her songs, "Perfect," reached the finals of the Jaxter Artist Awards, as well as charting on numerous music websites around the world. She also released a radio single in 2005, "Here was Blue," to Australian radio, which over 100 stations picked up and played on high rotation. Claire had two songs nominated for Female Singer/Songwriter of the year at the 2006 Los Angeles Music Awards, and she is receiving strong rotation on internet radio all over the world. Most recently, Claire's song "Lazy side of Crazy," came 3rd in the 2007 Unisong International Song Contest, beating out thousands of other entrants and her song, "Show Me" won a highly sought after spot on the 2008 internationally released "Females on Fire" compilation.
In 2006, Claire started work on her debut album, “Lazy Side of Crazy.” The album, which features a full production of 13 tracks, all written by Claire herself, was released at her sold out show at Sydney’s infamous music venue The Basement, in mid 2007. The album has since received rave reviews both in Australia and internationally, as well as radio play all over the world.
Claire then spent much of 2007 focusing on the US market, having started off the year playing on the world's greatest floating music festival, "The Rock Boat," along with Sister Hazel, Emerson Hart, Collective Soul and Josh Kelley, where she was the first Australian artist ever to be placed on the bill (booked after the leader singer of Sister Hazel heard her play one song). From there, she followed that up with a three month long tour in August-October 2007 to launch the album. That tour saw Claire trekking across the country, playing 25 shows in cities such as LA, New York, Chicago, New Orleans, Orlando, Cincinnati, Kentucky and many more. This tour also included a 3 week support slot for fellow Rock Boat band, Scarlet Kings.
2008 began with the highlight of her career where she played alongside music legends Lyle Lovett, Emmy-lou Harris, Patty Griffin, John Hiatt, Shawn Mullins, Brandie Carlile and many more onboard the inaugural “Cayamo” cruise – a collection of singer/songwriters performing for over 3000 music fans. There was then a tour of her home country and various music endeavours before Clare realised that her musical heart really lived in the US.
She has since been co-writing for both herself and other artists with some brilliant songwriters in the US. As of September 2009, Claire is basing herself in Nashville TN, with a full tour schedule and recording due to start for her follow up album.
