Silvermoon Productions Silvermoon Productions was founded in June 2008 by Senior Advisor, Mr. David A. Montour and President, Juan Cano Sanchez. The production company was established to manage the business affairs of the Native music band Clan Destine II. The vision of Silvermoon Productions was not only to manage Clan Destine II, but also to offer support and management to young Native artists getting started in the business. With the leadership of both David and Juan, along with the business experience of Bob Candelaria, VP Resource Development; Silvermoon was created to help young Native artists achieve their goals and dreams. Silvermoon Productions also recognized the essential call for mentoring and reaching out to Native youth. Clan Destine II has continuously made community services a priority, primarily through conducting outreach to youth by way of music. The band has made it a tradition to perform for a school or youth organization in whatever community they are performing.
Clan Destine II just released the much anticipated CD “Operation Peace and Music”. The new music is a message of balance.
With this in mind, Silvermoon Productions has set out to produce a nationwide tour of Native American communities and several metropolitan areas heavily populated with Native American people. The vision and plan of this endeavor is unique. Desiring to get the message of the music out to people, Silvermoon also recognized that this could be a rare opportunity to design an event that would also serve to inspire these communities.
Through their travels to different communities Clan Destine II has been able to reach out to members of these communities with their music, if only for a moment. Additionally they have witnessed the issues facing our people; such as the conditions of poverty, substance abuse, violence and teen suicide etc.
While in the process of writing and recording the new CD, the message of the music inspired the leadership of Silvermoon Productions to produce an event rather than conduct a concert. The leadership team committed itself to conceive an event that merges music, a motivational message with goal setting and planning, and an athletic event. This event would cater to the whole person attending – for “mind, body, and soul”. In all Native traditional beliefs balance is a key. Therefore we feel it is important to create a setting where Native youth can experience all facets of becoming a whole person. One focused on long term success. Please join us in creating such an event for our Native people.
Operation Peace One Day Event
The one day inspirational musical event would include a half day youth leadership conference featuring DJ “Eagle Bear Vanas” and Bob Candelaria followed by a community musical celebration supporting the youth and families.
Youth Leadership Conference
Opening the conference Bob Candelaria speaking to the youth about the obstacles They face and being prepared to stay focused and pursue their dreams and goals. Many of our youth put time and effort into practicing and preparing to play a sport, and Bob will take these same principles used for those activities and prepare the participants for the day ahead. He will talk about the need for goals, having a vision of success, and taking action steps to achieve those goals.
Success… It’s In Our Blood
Based on concepts from D.J.’s celebrated book, The Tiny Warrior: A Path to Personal Discovery & Achievement, this program will inspire your students to bring out their best. Using wisdom discovered in traditional Native American ceremonies, you’ll learn the true purpose of a warrior – not what we see on TV or in movies. Warriors spent their lives developing their talent and abilities to become assets to the village they served. Today that village can be your family, community or fellow students – anyone you serve… In this dynamic and entertaining program, D.J. will inspire the audience with a new sense of purpose and passion in who we are and what we can do. Born into poverty to teenage parents, D.J. has used the power of his culture, education and determined drive to become a highly successful business owner and renowned author who recently spoke at The White House. He’ll show you how the simple choices we make each day can create a massive positive impact for us and those around us. You’ll leave this session feeling supercharged towards your potential and how to use it to build a life of excitement, adventure – and success. After all, it’s in our blood!
Through my program, your students will:
• Learn to use the wealth of ability within themselves • Feel more empowered and excited about education • Have more confidence and awareness in their life decisions • Understand the impact of their choices on their journey ahead
Tip of the Spear: Leading Your Children to Victory (for parents)
As parents trying to make a difference and build healthy kids from the inside out, leadership skills are critical to our success. This program is a dynamic blend of humor, practical examples and powerful tools for parenting with power. D.J. uses traditional Native American wisdom and leadership concepts to create parents with strong leadership skills who are visionary, action-oriented and resilient. Explore the 6 roles of Tip of the Spear leadership: Chief, Warrior, Hunter, Prophet, Scout and Medicine Person – understand the critical need for self-leadership – how to create a high-performance environment for our kids – employ stress to boost achievement – learn powerful ways to build trust, commitment and motivation with your children. Prepare to learn, laugh, and lead your kids to victory!
Through my program, your parents will:
• Understand the impact of their words and choices on their children • Be more confident in their abilities as parents • Get critical tools and tips on building healthy, resilient kids Learn how to take better care of themselves so they can be at their best for their kids
Operation Peace
This is a musical celebration featuring Clan Destine II. This is an important part of the event because it will unite the events of the day. Songs full of peace and hope, visual imagery, and speaker interjection will etch in the minds of the youth and parents the various messages and emotions they have experienced making it memorable, to go back to for inspiration.
Projected Goals or Outcomes of Event
• Learn how to make the most of their abilities and their minds • Change the way they see themselves, their lives, and their futures • Realize they have a powerful warrior spirit inside of them • Renew their sense of personal value and worth • Believe they have a place and purpose in this world • Feel the joy of exploring new ideas and attitudes • See the power of lifetime education and learning • Be charged to take control of their lives forever • Know they have unlimited choices in their lives • Be more confident in their daily activities • Be motivated to take action and use what they've learned

Benefits: Participants will:  Realize they have a powerful warrior spirit inside of them  Renew their sense of personal value and worth  Believe they have a place and purpose in this world  Feel the joy of exploring new ideas and attitudes

Peace I am poor and naked but I am the chief of a nation. We do not want riches but we do want to train our children right. Riches would do us no good. We could not take them with us to the other world. We do not want riches. We want peace and love. -Red Cloud Oglala Sioux Chief 1822-1909

about
Music has been used by human beings for a very long time as a catalyst; or a doorway if you will, into a place of healing. Through our travels and our interactions we have been able to help people to be happy and to feel good - even if for just an hour. This has always been a common goal shared within the group.Clan/destine is touring again with renewed vigor, in a time when our world is in much need of peace and harmony.
Clan/destine introduces a new sound, by blending contemporary influences to their heritage and creating a perfect balance of new with the old. This earned Clan/destine a Native American Music Award (NAMMY) in the Best Pop/Rock category for “Deeply Rooted”; the group's second self-produced album. The group has 3 full length recordings. The first was produced and released with Canyon Records; the second and third were produced independently with their own label, Rezdawgs Inc.
“ModerNative” ~ the new genre of music. A tasty blend of musical flavors a splash of funk, a twist of country, and a pinch of reggae all mixed into a gelatinous rock base.

Juan “Cano” Sanchez
....of Lakota, Pueblo, and Spanish Decent, Cano is a powerful vocalist and high- energy performer whose showmanship has been described as dynamic, uplifting and positive ~ “music with a message”. Cano has been the devoted front man to Clan/Destine for more than a decade, and continues to deliver mesmerizing performances with the recently revised ~ Clan/Destine II.
Cano attributes a unique appreciation for life to the guidance of his parents, both educated scholars by profession; along with the wide array of experiences that came along with having six brothers and four sisters.
Cano made the decision early in life that a career in music would be his main focus. At the age of fifteen he began taking vocal training and performing with various bands. This gave him the experience to display the power he does on stage today. With nearly two decades now of performing, Cano continues to enjoy showcasing and affecting people of all ages with his music.
Cano drives the Clan/Destine force with a luminous desire to perform and the emotional response he gains from the audience. "The band is a familial unit of sorts. Balance and common respect are essential in maintaining the pertinent aspects of my life, my love, and my happiness." Cano's dedication and devotion to his culture and his craft have enabled him to express open-minded, true life emotion through music.

David A. Montour “That DAM Artist”
... of Mohawk, Cayuga, Potawatomi, and Ottawa decent, David is a highly accomplished and multi-talented artist who began his creative endeavors during his childhood in South Dakota and New Mexico. David's mother passed down a strong heritage, and his father led by example and taught him valuable lessons about life and culture, Consequently, David possesses a deep appreciation for the way he was raised. David's many art mediums have been his main focus and passion for most of his life, and he has a very impressive list of accomplishments. However, performing with his family's gospel group during most of his childhood etched a place in his heart for music. He harbored a dream and created the band ~ Clan/Destine. Dave not only lends his musical talents to the band, he supplies many art forms as well He not only plays the flute beautifully, he masterfully hand carves them. He's also created the artwork and logos on three of the band's four released recordings. Dave views his music and artistic talents as a gift that is to be shared, and As the leader of Clan/destine, he continues to devote only positive energy towards the development of the sound.
A multi-talented artist, he has spent many years as an artist-in-residence at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona, where his numerous talents have emerged and expanded. Intricately carved flutes of cherry, butternut, and ironwood, detailed sculptures of stone and bronze, and distinctly southwestern jewelry crafted in gold, silver, and precious gems are examples of the many media this artist has mastered. Montour's artwork has been exhibited in a number of galleries and museums throughout the country, including the National Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian Institution. Perhaps Montour's most important artistic accomplishment to date was in 1987 when he was asked to carve and detail with stone inlay the wooden chair that Pope John Paul II sat upon during his Native American audience held at Veteran's Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix. Now housed in the permanent collected of the Heard Museum, his chair represents a pinnacle in his career. Along with being a gifted artist, Montour is also an accomplished musician. He provides bass, flute and vocals to Clan/destine as well as performing as a soloist on his traditional, handcrafted Native American flutes for the top executives of such corporations as IBM, American Express, and the Smithsonian Institution. As the driving force behind Clan/destine, they have earned a strong following, performing original pieces, combining a reggae beat with rock-n-roll; strong in the message of compassion for life.
Check out Dave's Art Site

Chuck Harris “Riptide”
...of Hopi and Tohono O'otham decent, Chuck is also highly influenced by a rich cultural upbringing. both the Hopi and Waila music of the O'otham people have served as an inspiration to his talents as a musician. At an early age, Chuck tested and honed his skills in the Phoenix club scene. He then graduated from the prestigious Musician's Institute of Hollywood, California; specializing in guitar performance. This allowed him to teach guitar lessons privately, furthering his ambition to educate through music. Chuck is a founding member of the original Clan/Destine. The high energy sound thrives from his abilities both as an acoustic and electric guitar player. Native flute and vocals now embellish his musical presentation in both live and studio settings; and as a songwriter, he has developed a unique contemporary style while keeping a firm grip on his cultural upbringing.

Mike De La Torre
... of Hispanic decent, Mike is the new man keeping time on the drums for Clan/Destine II. Mike has been in the Phoenix music scene for ten years and has become a popular drummer and percussionist, performing and recording throughout the southwest. His first recollections of playing music are with his Grandfather. Mike was also heavily inspired at a young age by his Mother's music collection, and has memories of her teaching him how to spin a record when he was around 5 years of age. When he was 11 he received a drum set as a Christmas present from his Mom, and his future was set in motion.
He started studying Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian Folkloric music. In college Mike took a music and recording program. Through the years Mike has been influenced by all types of music and has played in a wide array of bands including reggae, blues, rock, salsa, funk, and jazz. Mike's vast experience fits perfectly in place with the new genre of music Clan/Destine has established, and his excitement and energy compliment
the upbeat feel and sound.

Matthew Vaiza
...of Hispanic decent, Matthew lends a new sound to Clan/Destine II by adding sampled mixes from a collection of more than 3000 albums. The band mates welcome Matt's style, saying it fills up their musical pool, making it more fun for everyone to swim! Matt's greatest influences are his parents, since they were always playing records and singing along to the radio. He bought his first turntable setup as a junior in high school and began by DJ-ing at weddings, proms, etc. After graduating he worked at the local radio station where he began to expand his album library by salvaging all the old records they were getting rid of. This addition sets in motion a ‘new spin' which only enhances the contemporary flare that the Clan have come to be known by.
