Clare Allen (Acoustic guitar, vocals, appalachian dulcimer)
Influences
Influences: countless.
Musical heroes, on the other hand, include Dylan, Young, Emmy Lou, Billy Bragg, Eels and Planxty...oh and a few musicians I've met over the years.
People who have made a real difference to the way I write, play and feel music, also include Roy Harper, Nic Jones, Martin Carthy, Phil Hare, Pete Morton, Led Zeppelin, Sandy Denny, George Borowski, Seth Lakeman, Tony Sullivan, Kirsten Hirsh, Peter Gabriel, Dick Gaughan, The Verve, Claire Mooney, Kevin Bates, Elton John...and thank you to the many people over the years who have shared their music collection with me and shared time at folk clubs and jamming in rooms when we were young, in Chester, Leeds and Stockport
Lots of performance experience in folk and acoustic circles in north west UK, I now seldom play - but occasionally perform traditional Irish and American music with Tony Sullivan, a banjo player. I've written plenty over the years, but if you're at a loose end, have a listen to the couple of tracks here. Hope you like them!
