Gene's Interests

General	I have been doing my radio show, Classic FM, for 29 years, digging deeper and playing more from artists, like original FM radio that we all miss. But I treat the new music the same way. -It's NOT an oldies show! It's just nice to hear the deeper stuff, BOTH old and new, because there's no way, in THIS lifetime, commercial radio will EVER play anything but a hit single! So, for all you struggling artists out there... -All that soul searching you do to write music... drawing upon your lives for inspiration to create... Keep plugging away and always reach for the stars. If you want to send ME your music, please get in touch, because I'm not afraid to let the music play! Especially independents!! k... that's not EVERYTHING I'm about!... but it's a big part. Music is like the air I breathe... It's not just background... I "feel" it... I "breathe" it... I flow with it... cry and groove with it. I love interviewing musicians, established and new, and weaving their wonderful music into what we chat about. I love the stars... I'm a hopeless romantic. Chemistry, Give it a chance! It doesn't have to be so apparent at first glance... It can reveal itself during your first kiss if you're daring enough! Don't be so scared! It's ok! lol! Love, Light and Spirituality. Christmastime... All kinds of chocolate; teas, especially mint iced tea; water always; staying up late and talking; sitting close; constellations; laughing with my siblings or anyone; dont EVEN wake me on the weekend!; breakfast; the supernatural; movies; popcorn w/extra butter; getting through things as best I can; long hair on a woman; agree to disagree; Pizza, especially at the shore; dunes; root beer floats; double stuff Oreos and milk; cherry cheese cake... I enjoy drawing; writing; photography; Any food except red beets (eeewww!!!); I love Summertime, although I have special feelings about all seasons; the rain on my bedroom roof especially during a thunderstorm; Lightning on the horizon; sensitivity; spirituality; passion; sensuality; candles; dogs & cats; befriending wild animals; the descent when flying; --and the sunrise!
Music	What's always in my CD player? "Transcend" the NEW disc from Dream Aria Featured on Classic FM Mezmerizing... trancey... rocking... intricate... beautiful... POWERFUL... soothing... and lovely... with entrancing vocals; this CD flows through my veins just as their first one did!... defies to be confined to a genre... you've GOT to hear this!
Movies	The X-Files; The Prestige; 9 1/2 Weeks; The French Connection; Cinderella Man; To Kill A Mockingbird; The Jericho Mile; American Beauty; Jeremiah Johnson; Real Genius; Prince Of The City; The Parallax View; Easy Rider; Pulp Fiction; The Shawshank Redemption; The Sixth Sense; The Godfather; The Deer Hunter; Serpico; etc... Can I take a breath here?
Television	Miami Vice; WWE RAW; Ghosthunters; X-Files; (Most of my favorite TV shows aren't on TV anymore). I don't "feel" much TV today... All shows are mirror images of each other. Copycats. I would like an original show to occur! And if they're gonna show older shows, I'd like to see Dr Kildare... It Takes A Thief... The Name Of The Game... Run For Your Life... The Immortal...
Books	Check book; a book of stamps; booking guests; booking flights; I read mostly reference material and things that interest me... CD and LP liner notes. Cassettes and 8 Tracks never had liner notes... what's up with that? --LOL! I don't read novels. The Annotated Alice (Lewis Carroll) with footnotes by Martin Gardner... a fascinating, dreamy and mesmerizing book!

Classic FM The Album-Friendly Intimacy Of Progressive FM Radio Since 1979 With Exclusive Interviews.

The show revives the free-form atmosphere of listening to early FM radio with those older deeper tracks, and includes some wonderful new musicians as well. I have in-studio guests playing live occassionally, and a very popular feature called Perfect Album where I play three songs from an album of your choosing that you have always felt was perfect... at least your all time favorite! =) I also love putting together themes on occassion. Your requests are always welcome!

I left the confines of commercial radio years ago to continue doing this right for both the artists and listeners! You both deserve it!

Widowed... I lost my wife of 20 years to ovarian cancer in May of '04; Devoted father to 2 grown children; A daughter and one hell of an athlete 20; & son, a United States Marine Reservist 22.

My son is in Iraq now... He and all your children over there, need your energy and support... and wishes for a safe return.

I have an awesome sense of humor and try to find humor in everything; Passionate; down to earth; uninhibited; a perfectionist at times; I Love the Jersey shore, Ocean City, to be specific, I love walks on the beach, day or night; rain on the roof; LOVE thunderstorms; Christmas Eve at mom’s; Miami Vice; I play music loud… (get to KNOW your neighbors!); I like rock, prog, folk, jazz/fusion, singer/songwriters, Canterbury and classical; Been a soccer player all my life; Softball, bowling; I've always loved cookouts;

The album features the original members of Fire - Dave Lambert (better-known for his work with Strawbs), Bob Voice and Dick Dufall), together with Ray Hammond as narrator, performing Fire's highly collectable "rock fairytale" album from 1970 "The Magic Shoemaker" for the first time EVER! "THE MAGIC SHOEMAKER - LIVE!" was professionally recorded during Fire's reunion concerts in late 2007, and includes Fire classics "FATHER'S NAME IS DAD" and "TREACLE TOFFEE WORLD". Taster track now available for listening on Fire's Myspace. The album is available for pre-release ordering from major retailers NOW!
