The English Beat, Squeeze, The Clash, The Smiths, Madness, The Replacements, All Things Bob Mould (Husker Du, Sugar, Bob Solo), The Pretenders, Romeo Void, Let's Active, The Cure...
About me: I am a great fan of 80s Alternative music, Post-Punk, and New Wave, and use my blog -- www.classic-alternative.com to pass along info on all the bands.
At one time, I guess I could have been considered a bit of a music snob, but I have mellowed quite a bit. Among my favorite bands: Squeeze, The English Beat, Let's Active, Romeo Void, New Order, Madness, The Smiths, R.E.M., The Pretenders, The Replacements, The Clash, and any project Bob Mould is/has been involved with. I am also a former Duranie and love music that some might consider on the cheesier side, like that of Haircut 100, Adam Ant, Nik Kershaw...
I have two kids, and am exposing them to the finer things in life. :) My boy (8) loves The Clash, Paul Westerberg, and White Stripes. The other day, we were listening to some net radio and Revenge from Ministry's first (super-cheesy) album was playing. My son was trying to shut it off so that he could turn on Spongebob, and my (then) three-year-old daughter was *not* pleased, and ready to try to take him down over it. Way to make a mother proud...
Lastly, anyone who is a fan of the Video Concert Hall TV show from the late '70s-early '80s should click here.
Feel free to ask me or Steve about that unforgettable night in 1983 when The Vandals and The Suburban Lawns (!) opened for The Members at the old Perkins' Palace. A disaster of truly historical proportions.....
She packed her bags on Christmas Eve, her mom was freaked for her to leave Set her sights on Hollywood and the Boulevard
Left her home on Christmas Day, hit the streets, no place to stay It don't make too much sense at The Starwood
She was born to be so bad, the best Christmas she's ever had She danced all night at Rodney's English Disco
She made the scene, she loved T Rex, she had it out with lots of sex She wished she'd been around to meet The Monkees Out all night, she'd crash all day, with other girls who've run away With all the Cherry Bombs and blacktop junkies.
She was born to be so bad, the best Christmas she's ever had She danced all night at Rodney's English Disco
She used to dress like the swinging London girls, in silver glitter She thought the streets of Hollywood were gold, but they're just littered - littered, with dreams that saw the streets were paved with gold
She was obsessed with Sandy West, the Runaway that she liked best Lita, Queen of Noise, doesn't know
She strung out, she was a mess If she knew, she won't confess She cried the night they closed the English Disco
Run away.... Run away.... Run, run, away.... On Christmas Day....
