Classics of Love is a newish band from the Bay Area of Northern California featuring Jesse from Operation Ivy and Max, Mike and Morgan from San Jose's The Hard Girls. Mike also plays with Shinobu while Max and Morgan are veterans of Pteradon.
The band, which began in November of '08, started out playing basic, classic punk rock with a variety of influences including but not limited to Rites of Spring, Stiff Little Fingers, The Who, The Clash, Wire, and others. Over our first year we evolved into something a little bit faster, a bit more like eighties hardcore but with a lot of melodic moments. Our thing is to remain inspired by the bands we love but to create something NEW and DIFFERENT if at all possible. We do this by trying to write good songs and trusting in the natural creative urge to find it's own form.
In our first year we recorded a six song ep, played the Bay Area, L.A, Chicago, Mineeapolis and completed a tour of the U.K. The E.P. is called "Walking in Shadows" and is available on Asian Man records. We also have tee-shirts there. Our next step is to write and record a full-length. In the mean time we are having a lot of fun playing shows and hope to see you soon. This is not a full time band because the singer is too old to run his ass off and sleep in piles of garbage (the other guys aren't and do it all the time in their band The Hard Girls) but we keep writing songs and playing out at a slow and steady pace.
