Where do they all come from? Is there some secret, Harry Potter-type academy in a deep hidden mountain range where young women are granted the gift of musical genius, beauty and stagecraft? They keep coming - Norah Jones, Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse… and now Claudia Bettinaglio. ...Recorded in Switzerland, 'Sometimes' is a collection of 13 tracks mostly written or co-written by Claudia backed by some amazingly good musicians. Is this a blues album? Not exactly - but it has a depth and a lyrical content which will take you into a blues frame of mind. The lyrics are superb; This is a record where you really do listen to the words - and everyone can relate to a song like 'Relationshit' (No, that's not a spelling error). So keep your eyes and ears open for Ms. Bettinaglio. Music like this increases the entry level for new talent. Claudia could well soon be a big name around the world, if there's any justice. And as I've already blown it once by exposing my age, I might as well say it - she looks just as good as she sounds…….Roy Bainton
Claudia's one of Switzerland's strongest vocalists. She started-out in the Lazy Poker Blues Band, only to work on her own project a couple of years ago. With an album of Tom Waits covers she produced a lot of attention in 2001. "Sometimes ..." is a showcase for her own songwriting. All originals with the exception of two covers (Tom Waits, ZZ Top) presenting a musical spectrum from rootsy and mainstream rockers to soulful jazz ballads, and (almost) adult pop. Backed by Hank and his regular bassist, one of the best in Europe. Great drummer and keyboard player, too.
