Clave Nagila was born in 2006 when trumpeter Jason Parker and bassist Troy Kendrick coined the term to apply to their Latin-Jazz arrangements of traditional Jewish tunes. Parker had done a Coltrane-like arrangement of the prayer "Etz Chaim", which he called "Tree of Life", for the Jason Parker Quartet. Kendrick had recently returned from a trip to Argentina and had Latin music on the mind. And so Clave Nagila was born.
In January 2008 Clave Nagila took it's first steps when Parker hired Nate Omdal to complete three arrangements for a demo recording, which was done at Embassy Studios in Seattle the following month with a crack band of Seattle's finest jazzers.
The resulting demo is in the mixing phase, and the tracks above are just rough mixes for your listening pleasure. Check back soon for the final mix-down.

I was just eating some spuds for supper over here in Ireland, and I have to say your music added some zesty zip to an otherwise bland meal! Great arrangements. Go Tobi! Clarinet sounds great. love Amy
