CLAY, LANG & STONE...
Toni Jolene Clay, Doug (Duke) Lang and Jonmark Stone are three talented veteran songwriters and performers. Clay and Stone live in Nashville, Lang on the westcoast of Canada, and once a year they hook up and do some shows together. Toni Jolene Clay is a writer, vocalist, pianist, record producer and lecturer. She performed at Gilley's near Houston for many years, opening for major names in country music. Clay sings her own composition, Silver Moon, on Mickey Newbury's Lulled by the Moonlight CD. She is the only artist Newbury ever honored so. Toni Jolene has written nearly 300 songs, released 5 albums, and is a multiple nominee for the prestigious Dove Award.
Doug Lang lives in Vancouver, Canada. His early childhood was spent on the prairies in Moose Jaw, and those roots have continued to inform his songs. A keen observer of the human condition, Doug is a poet-singer who has shared stages with Mimi Farina, Taj Mahal and Ferron, among others. Lang has a catalog of more than 300 songs and has been called, by late San Francisco radio legend Ron Lyons, "the best songwriter you've never heard of.
Jonmark Stone has moved around some, and has just returned to Nashville. He began playing guitar at age eight and has been performing professionally since age 12. Stone has played coast to coast and was a staff writer and production assistant for the Billy Strange Music Group in Nashville through the 1980s. Jonmark's songs have been recorded by Tim Malchak, Billie Jo Spears, Helen Cornelius, Tennessee Ernie Ford, John Schneider and Marty Haggard, among others. Stone has done session work as a guitarist, vocalist, producer and engineer, and television/stage credits include The Nashville Network, The Grand Ole Opry and the Virginia Pops Orchestra. He was pals with the late Mickey Newbury, a mentor.

Will there be a ClayLangStone reunion in Nashville...if so, what a treat the listeners are in for. As I told you before, had V and I known, we would have been there with bells on...you know the "Troublemakers" would be on their best behavior :) Luv ya LaskaShirl
Great selection of songs from a great group of artists, Clay, Lang and Stone. In "Such A Long Time Ago" Stone asks where all the poets have gone? They are still around, still writing and many still performing. I found three of them right here on this site this morning.
dear Clay Lang Stone, thanks for your friendship!
We are really happy to tell you our new cd 'YA DUNYA' is finally available at your local record store (Europe) or through iTunes or bol.com.
We are getting really great reviews, but you buying the cd makes us buying a beer and than we are both happy! :-)
kind regards and maybe our paths will cross this year!
Do you have any 'inside info' as to any performances prior to or after the Gathering? My inquiring mind needs to know as I need to be looking into making airline
reservations to Austin.
See ya in June!
Well I love the thunder and I love the fiddle and I love Mickey...so your interpretation is a completely soulful experience...thanks for posting it. I also love the holiday season so I just posted four of my Christmas songs...listen in when you get a chance...Happy Holidays!
Doug, after listening to Iceland Bound, I went back and reread "The Test"...I am so glad you survived to write about the experience; you are a man with a cast iron stomach.....lol
"Someday I'll be reborn in that great city in another world system, in the past or future, where the single 3-mile high mountain stands against the blue sky-With all my compassion with me, and all I'll need is the wisdom of the land."
We write, we write, we write. We court the muse. With brimming hearts and halting words, we pick away at the layers of self-protection that shield us from each other, hoping to reveal something fine, and tender, and beautiful. That's what you've done with "How I Love the Rain."
Doug, listened to the show tonight - "How I Love the Rain" is written from your heart and sung by the lady with a beautiful voice, Toni Jolene.
The rainy 'weather' is another story. After 3 weeks of rain, washed out roads, bridges, railroad tracks, overflowing creeks/rivers, mudslides, damage to and loss of homes I don't have a love for rain. At least when it snows, my clothes don't get so wet that I have to change into dry clothes.
Your 'far north' fan and friend, Alaska Shirley
Hey Lang & Stone...can't wait! I was dreamin' of our tour last night....we were having the time of our lives...and we got to sing too! Here's to 'better days'...and the road our hearts travel.
Love you both.
