  • Bio

..Born and raised in Northern Alberta , Clayton Bellamy brings farm boy muscle to his music When he wasn't racing motocross ,he was hurtling across the prairie in a pick-up searching for trouble and some sort of truth in the honky tonks of Western Canada. Inspired by the likes of Petty, Springsteen, and Steve Earle, Bellamy's songs evoke the imagery of hard working people with big dreams, and endless highways to broken hearts. He found fame as a member of one of Canada's biggest bands "The Road Hammers", but his time has come to stake his claim as the next great Blue Collar songsmith. A four time Canadian Country Music Award Winner, SOCAN Songwriter of the year ,and JUNO Award winner, this high energy singer songwriter is not to be overlooked. .. ..

Bio:

.. .. .. In an age where everything seems to be plastic, disposable and instantaneous, Clayton Bellamy's latest music offers up sentiments that are real, solid, and timeless. Influenced by sounds ranging from the Stones, Tom Petty and the Boss to the Black Crowes and Steve Earle, the album is a throwback to the days of straight-up rock. Back when guitars were used like voices to cry out in protest, wail against the machine, or even just lament the state of the world in 4/4 time. The first track of the project, "Goodbye America," sets the tone for the entire CD with its soulful vocals, driving guitars, and pounding rhythms. It was written as a lament of unrequited love with the mistress of the American dream...an intense emotional ride chasing the allure and seduction of a beauty that was, is and will always be as fleeting as it is addictive for the open hearted dreamer. Clayton's lyrical reactions towards what many people are feeling are a common theme throughout this album, from the tangible frustration and anger on the title track to the opposite end of the spectrum, the beautiful soulful sentiments of "Love Lead The Way."    “There's so much struggle and distraction in the world today, and on this record I deal with my underlying spiritual take on the way I see the world — a sort of hopefulness through it all," explains Clayton about his latest creative work. As part of the platinum-selling, Juno award winning band the Road Hammers, Clayton released several albums and toured extensively throughout the world. He began writing songs for this new project while burning up the road with the Hammers. He also collaborated with Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar/Grady fame on their new record, and worked with Garth Hudson of the Band on a song for an upcoming tribute album. For his new album, Clayton assembled tons of amazing players and special guests, including Johnson, Ian MacLagan (The Faces, Rolling Stones), Audley Freed (Black Crowes, Peter Frampton), Chad Cromwell (Neil Young, Joe Walsh) and Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon (Double Trouble). The album is a window straight into Clayton’s pure rock and roll heart and incendiary soul, and its tunes will alternately provoke and inspire, always stirring emotion, which is just what Clayton feels music should do. I want my music to lift you up, and give you something to believe in. For me, the thing that always resonates is the message.  I want to hear a story...I want to hear  ‘Free Falling’ or  ‘Born In The USA’...that's saying something, and it resonates with people. That's what makes great rock n' roll, that’s what I want to be a part of.”
