Clear Blue Skies started out as an acoustic duo. Matty and Derek of Silent Rage ( matty bass and Derek Vocals then ). Soon the duo became what they wanted, a full band with Matty playing guitar and Derek singing. A lot of time and money and they became well known in the north east for gigging and playing their own music.
A debut album titled "I" was self released. Dave left the drums to work with his other passion, food.
J-P came back on the drums and better than ever.
More hard work and soon two more albums "CROW" and "SHADOW" they went for it as best they could.
They reached channel four and E4 and were about to release "Wake Up Dreaming" when everything ended... it was an amazing adventure.
Matty left to be with his first child. Eddy ( bass) gave in his notice too with a jobdown south calling and J-P had to end his drums for many medical reasons.
J-P is planning playing more drums. Matty is back writing songs with another singer. Eddy is in a cover band called The Range. The music is in them always.
Derek had given this everything he had and could not turn back. He finished off the booked up gigs with a makeshift CBSkies.
Back with original Silent Rage guitarist they wrote 2 new albums and went out to gig as much as possible.
Also Derek had a plan for many years. Meeting many known players, some never ever playing to a crowd, he went on a new mission.
On the buskers circuit he found players and helped them have a taste of life in music. All the hard work of getting gigs, press, radio and to support many great artists... it was a magic idea and from the heart he worked all of his time making this happen bringing together people and music in the north east.
Hairy left as guitarist. This forced Derek to go solo and learn the guitar. A new album was written and now playing around 150 shows a year.
Derek runs Acoustic Magic with Melanie. They put in everything for the players to have a great adventure together and help whoever they can.
His love for music and people which keeps him going and growing daily, making smiles and memories everywhere.
From 2010 Derek is also working with a new partner and name WE STEAL FLYERS...
Derek pushes hard to reach everyone who wants music with tours, radio, Tv and whatever else is going on.
There is a lot to learn and more to teach.
There is always so much more to do and being in it for all the right reasons, Derek could never fail.

Hello my lovely northern friend:). I was just thinking about you.:)The fire is burning nicely in the boat as we speak, so it's lovely and warm. Gary is very well, he is helping to build a wood chopping machine for us all here, so I can be lazy and not chop wood anymore. I am busy organising gigs for next year and looking forward to our May tour:) I have booked P. J McGintys for when you come down again in August, so that is a definite. Must have a chat soon, before I forget the lingo, Love to mel and the girls, Lotsa love Daisy, Gary, Tig, Socks, Flumpty and my many chickens xxx
Dudette, I have been a-listenin' to your toons on your CD and my pants have been a-swingin'. Mighty fine. I have made a wee CD for you to accost a person or two with, since the first was rather dodge-some. Hopefully that will find it's way to you come the weekend (station road, right?!) Lee tells me you may be heading back this way early next year...so don't go changing.. or I won't recognise you,
