Cleopatra Park Audio Recording started in 1995 as a basement recording studio in a Seattle neighborhood near Phinney/Ballard/Greenwood referred to as "Cleopatra Park" by old city records. in 2003 the studio moved to a more spacious location in a little pocket neighborhood just north of Ballard called Green Arbor.
Cleopatra Park Audio Recording specializes in demo recording, pre-production, and independent album projects. Musician owned and operated, we provide a relaxed, creative, and focused atmosphere for your project.
Owner, Engineer, Producer Kelly Blanchard has been performing and recording in Seattle since 1990, starting out in The Somethings, and then Way Beyond, Yab Yum, The Meltdowns, Coriander, and Blue Star Creeper. Early studio experience included sessions with Conrad Uno (Egg Studios), Chris Hanzsek (Hanzsek Audio), Stuart Hallerman (Avast!), T. Dallas Reed (Music Abuse), and Jim Roth (Built To Spill).
In 1997 Kelly earned a Certificate in Sound Engineering from the University of Washington. The program included studio work with Peter Barnes (Clatter & Din), Paul Scoles (Ironwood), Glenn Lorbecki (Glenn Sound/Violent Femmes), and David Miles Huber (author, Modern Recording Techniques). He also did a 6 month internship at Clatter & Din, an audio post production studio. As live sound enginneer for the cable access TV shows "29 Live" and "The Small Stage," produced by Rob Hursh, Kelly worked with hundereds of local musicians on close to 200 episodes.
