-I've been playing bass with ekoostik Hookah since it began in 1991. Around that same time, I started playing banjo. The study of bluegrass led me to some of its roots; old-time, country blues, Irish tunes, folk ballads, and classic country music.
--Playing with Hookah has given me the chance to play songs with Arlo Guthrie, Sam Bush, Vassar Clements, Bela Fleck & Jeff Coffin, Dicky Betts, Bob Weir & Ratdog, Airto Moriera, Cyro Baptista, Jonathan Edwards, DJ Logic, Keller Williams, Little Feat, C.J.Chenier, Leftover Salmon, Derek Trucks, Vince Welnick, David Nelson, Merl Saunders, Stanton Moore, Railroad Earth, Moe, Hot Tuna, John Bell, Michael Hurley, and Ken Kesey.
Oh Cliff, how can you do it to me? First Ed, now you. I feel like half my heart is gone. Although I wish you all the luck pursuing other musical adventures, I do hope eventually you will come to your senses and return. You don't even know what hookah means to me. I don't have an Ohio Grown tattoo with a huge schwa on it all the way down my ribs for nothin! I grew up with you, going to my first hookah when i was 14 and now i am 23. Well you know cliffy, we will always have that time in spring of 08' when I got to shake my ass on stage right between you and sweney when you sang join together with the band. That was the greatest moment of my life thusfar and you will be truly missed my dear friend. Farewell and much love always.
Indeed, no one will ever be able to fill your shoes Cliff! Let alone your sound... I mean, where can you find someone who can yodel these days!!! no one ever does that anymore! Your personality will be missed, as well as your awesome beanies!

Hi Cliffy! It was such a shock to hear that new years will be your last show honestly you were the biggest reason I went to see Hookah. It's going to be different looking to the right of Sweeney and not seeing you. Good Luck with everything! WE will miss yeah Lindsay
