Trailer for THE PITCH
A modern allegory about two salesmen, Norman and Winston, who offer the ultimate product: hope, for a price. After not meeting the sales quota and with Winston eager to take over, Norman's morality will be tested against his own desire to succeed.
Written and Directed by Derek LaPorte
Derek LaPorte, Writer - Director
Born in Pensacola, Florida, Derek LaPorte wrote and directed seven short films during his college years, gaining increased technical competence even as he constantly tested his boundaries as a storyteller. On the verge of enrolling in law school, he decided to move to Los Angeles in 2007 and pursue his dream to be a filmmaker, a career fraught with uncertainty albeit one for which he showed much promise.
He constantly imbibes from the films of Michelangelo Antonioni, Andrei Tarkovsky, Robert Bresson, Bela Tarr and Terrence Malick, renowned names in American and Foreign cinema; filmmakers whose stories and style he considers unshakeable. Not unlike his influences, Laporte’s films aspire to bring to the fore strong thematic concepts, compelling characters, and situations that aim to arrive at the truth and evoke real emotions in the viewer.
He is currently in his MFA Thesis semester at the New York Film Academy, located at Universal Studios. Abounding with story ideas, LaPorte has carefully selected ‘In the Vine’ to be his feature debut for its scope and timeliness for the world audience and in his career plan.
THANK YOU FOR ADDING ME. THE FILM WAS AMAZING. AS A PARTIALLY WELL KNOWN ACTOR THROUGHOUT THE AREA, I REALLY APPRECIATE THE STORY'S GENUINE LINES OF DIALOGUE AND THE ORIGINALITY OF THE PLOT. THE PACING OF THE FILM WAS PLEASANT, THE SHOTS WERE DELIGHTFUL, AND THE ENDING WAS POWERFUL. ANY PARTIALLY WELL KNOWN ACTOR WOULD KILL TO HAVE A ROLE IN THIS WELL DESIGNED STORY. GREAT JOB TO "THE PITCH" I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR NEXT FILM!!!! OR EVEN AUDITION FOR IT... ;)
