Gone and thankfully largely forgotten, but "thanks" to the wonders of computers, unleashed on the unsuspecting cyber-public a mere 21 years after their sell-by date.
The Clodhoppers - A comedy band that managed four performances and one album without making anyone laugh. Least of all themselves.
The hardcore of the band (see below) all played on the album and did the gigs (well, Jammer missed one actually) but there were others involved - Banner (who was there at the very start but wisely bailed out to concentrate on more serious work) , Ironman and Lee (who both had speaking parts on the album) and some kid off the street, who played drums at the farewell gig.
The Clodhoppers album was recorded in the vestry of the Methodist Church, Nantwich, using a Heath Robinson rig-up of a twin-tape karaoke machine and a couple of microphones. They were transferred to digital using an equally Heath Robinson computer/casstte player rig-up. Nothing short of an industrial sand blaster could have cleaned these songs up.
Fortunately the band have all gone their separate ways and despite the obviously lucrative market for re-unions of '80s bands, you can breathe a sigh of relief that this mob won't set foot on stage ever again. Or will they...?
