Here's the deal, my name's Alx and I'm the bassist for CC, been playing with these guys since March 2008. I'm sitting next to Chico (singer) wondering what the fuck the background is on this band, mainly because the old "about me" needed updating. So we did a short interview after rehearsal tonight, and this is the transcript:
C: Where should we begin, Alx?
A: Hmm. Tell me about the beginning of the band, when did it come together and who was in it?
C: A friend of mine, Zoe, was the singer for about several months and she wasn't feeling it, so I took over on vocals. At that time, we had our buddy/brother Rolo Rob on the bass, and that was 200...5? I'll have to check with Sammy about the dates. Sam, Dan, Mario, and Rolo Rob where the other bandmembers besides me at the time. And I guess they've been trying this project after coming off their punk rock bands for a little while prior to me.
A: And you come from a hardcore background, right?
C: Uh shit... all background's universal (laughter).
A: I've been trying to come up with a classification to our sound, and it's really taken me a year to come up with this, let me know what you think: Blackened Gothic Progressive Metalcore.
C: I'll go with that. Let me continue with the band history. After Rolo Rob, Rob Rocker played bass for a year or two, until he switched to guitar after Mario left, then we got our good friend Mike on bass (miss you Mike). Oh yeah, we had keyboards too for a while- Nicole was with us for 2 or 3 years. Mike on bass left, then we added another dude for half a year, and then Rob left, and that's when you came in on the bass, and then we added Denny on guitars for a year, who was just replaced by Dan 2.0.
A: Wow, that's a lot of member changes, what's up with that?
C: I don't think it's a lot. I feel pretty strong about this lineup we got going now.
A: Yeah man, me too. It feels good. Tell me about the recording history.
C: We have a couple demos, one's released, one's not. The first demo is an in-house recording done at the CASKET. And the second demo is our buddy Jack's work, he hooked it up in his recording studio for a school project, soon to be released.
A: What do you think the meaning behind the name of the band is?
C: Pure darkness, the absence of light.... until we open the casket. BOO!
A: What direction do you hope to take with this band of ours?
C: More beerguts and gray hairs.
A: That sounds good to me.
C: We're gonna shoot for the stars, Alx. If we keep eating our Powerbars.
A: I think that rhymed, let's put it in our next song.
C: No doubt.
A: I feel like this internal interview is missing something.
C: What.
A: Which one of us is the better singer?
C: That would be me. No question hahaha. You're like GG Allin and I'm like Meatloaf. That brother can SING. GG... not so much. But he has a presence, always.
A: Haha, fair enough. Anything else?
C: You just farted, so I'm gonna back up.
A: *shiteating grin*
