Close To Modern is a Las Vegas based Indie Rock band who’s dark melodramatic sounds enlighten the deepest part of the human spirit. Formed in late 2007, the band has emerged as one of the only Indie, Post-Punk bands to come out of the Las Vegas Valley. Their sound classified as “Neu-Gloom” by the Las Vegas Weekly is no surprise, as their style is directly influenced by bands such as The Smiths, Joy Division, and the later Interpol and Editors. Playing numerous local shows since June of 2008, Close To Modern has branched out into the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas with much more success. Lately, being fortunate enough to have two of their songs aired on a San Francisco radio show called “The Killing Moon” with DJ Squid, on Pirate Cat Radio 87.9FM. Despite having trouble fitting in with the local troubled Vegas music scene, Close To Modern continues to perform, slowly gaining fans one ear at a time.
