WE ARE COMMITTED TO ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO TAKE MORE CONTROL OF THEIR LIVES BY CREATING CHANCES FOR ALTERNATIVE AVENUES INTO EMPLOYMENT. THROUGH CREATIVE ACTIVITY, WE AIM TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR LOCAL PEOPLE THROUGH EMPOWERMENT, BUILDING CONFIDENCE, FRIENDSHIPS AND OTHER LIFE SKILLS AS WELL AS HAVING FUN. AS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE WORKING WITHIN MUSIC IN LEEDS, WE ARE COMING FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE FROM MUCH OF THE REST OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. OUR AIMS ARE SOCIAL IN TERMS OF BENEFITING PEOPLE RATHER THAN TO CONCENTRATE ON MAKING A PROFIT. THIS DOES NOT STOP THE ORGANISATION FROM MAKING A SURPLUS OR PROFIT ALTHOUGH THIS IS PLOUGHED BACK IN TO THE ORGANISATION RATHER THAN GOING, AS IN A PLC, OR EVEN A CO-OP, BACK TO ITS SHAREHOLDERS, MEMBERS OR WORKERS.
CLOTH CAT STUDIOS PROVIDES FREE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE IN THE HYDE PARK & WOODHOUSE WARD OF LEEDS.
WE ALSO AIM TO PROVIDE OTHER RESOURCES AND SERVICES THROUGH MUSIC WHICH WE ARE CURRENTLY DEVELOPING. WE ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO LEARN NEW SKILLS THROUGH THESE COURSES IN MUSIC AND WANT TO FIND NEW INVENTIVE WAYS OF PROVIDING AVENUES INTO EMPLOYMENT THROUGH MUSIC AND ITS ASSOCIATED CREATIVE ARTS. WE ARE CONSTANTLY WANTING TO FIND OUT WHAT THE NEEDS OF THE MUSIC COMMUNITY ARE IN THIS NECK OF THE WOODS, SO IF YOU ARE A MUSICIAN OR IN A BAND IN LEEDS, PLEASE FILL IN A COPY OF OUR ON-LINE SURVEY AND LET US KNOW.

THE CLOTH CAT MEGA MUSIC QUIZ
This is going to be the biggest music quiz you will ever have taken part in. Consisting of 230 music trivia questions and 100 album covers to identify.

*** I HAVE REARRANGED THE PHOTOS TO MATCH THE ORDER YOU SEE THEM ON THE SHEET. HOPE THIS HELPS!! ***

But not played out like a normal quiz. This is all printed out for you to buy the sheet and take it away to answer in your own time. This means you can use whatever resources you have at your disposal to find the answers - magazines, books, the internet.....
Some of the questions are completely easy, some of them straightforward to find the answers to, some are a lot more tricky.....
You can buy the sheet for just £3 from any of Cloth Cat's events including the regular Open Mic nights. This sheet will have a forgeproof embossed Cloth Cat logo on it to prevent photocopying.
This is being launched at the Open Mic Night on Thursday 29th October.
Entries must be at the Cloth Cat office by 12.00 lunchtime Monday 7th December.
The winner will be announced at the Open Mic on Thursday 10th December by a celebrity special guest. In the event of a tie, names will be drawn at random from a hat.
If you have an accident with your form and it gets wrecked, bring the form back to us for a replacement copy. Your original form MUST be returned, we will accept no excuses!!
There will be just one prize which is currently worth nearly £100 and includes ALL of the following:
A pair of guestlist places to see Little Boots at Leeds University Stylus on 12th December,
A pair of tickets for the Brutus Gold’s Christmas Disco Ball at the Leeds O2 Academy (on Friday 18th December),
a meal at TGI Friday's for 2-4 people,
a meal for 2 at Nazam’s, Woodhouse Street, LS6,
and a free game of bowling for a family of 4 at Hollywood Bowl.

ONE OF CLOTH CAT'S MAIN ACTIVITIES IS TRAINING WHICH WE RUN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE WEA. WE OFFER A RANGE OF COURSES AND SUPPORT FOR LOCAL MUSICIANS AND MEMBERS OF THE INNER CITY LEEDS COMMUNITY. OUR COURSES ARE FREE AND OPEN TO ANYONE WHO WISHES TO ENROLL ALTHOUGH WE DO TARGET THOSE WHO ARE LIVING ON LOW INCOMES AND BENEFITS IN THE AREA. ALL WE ASK IS THE COMMITMENT TO SEE THE COURSE THROUGH AND TO PRODUCE YOUR OWN MUSIC. SOON THE TUNES CREATED ON OUR COURSES WILL BE AIRED AT UPCOMING EVENTS IN LEEDS.

WE HAVE OFFERED COURSES IN ELECTRONIC MUSIC, ESPECIALLY SOFTWARE AND PRODUCING, AS WELL AS OTHER MUSIC RELATED TRAINING. WE OPERATE ON A NEEDS BASIS, SO IF THERE IS A COURSE YOU WOULD SPECIFICALLY LIKE TO SEE US RUN, THEN PLEASE GET IN TOUCH.

WE RUN A MEMBERSHIP SCHEME WHICH COSTS £1.00 AND WHICH WILL GIVE YOU ACCESS TO ALL OUR FREE COURSES, ENABLE YOU TO HAVE MORE SAY IN WHAT CLOTH CAT DOES, RECEIVE MORE SUPPORT AND GET REDUCTIONS ON ANY EVENTS WHICH WE DO HAPPEN TO CHARGE FOR.

THE COURSES ARE IN HIGH DEMAND, SO BOOK YOUR PLACE EARLY, BUT PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CAN COMMIT TO COMPLETING THE COURSE AS PLACES ARE AT A PREMIUM!

    As part of their on-going quest to rid the world of ennui and other French philosophical maladies, THE DEVIL’S JUKEBOX are rolling out the ragtime red carpet and humping it ‘till the weave gets pilled, on FRIDAY 23rd OCTOBER, at THE PACKHORSE supported by English Music Hall Maestros BISCUIT HEAD and the BISCUIT BADGERS-expect ukulele, tuba and a sense of the absurd akin to Vivian Stanshall’s Bonzo Dog Band, featuring Dino Casino, not to be missed.PLUS the frankly quite splendid

Next Thursday, 3rd September at SELA BAR on upper Briggate for the very hottest that the 20’s had to offer in sleazy ragtime, dirty jazz, and unspeakably torrid blues, plus the best in 30’s Americana, 40’s Swing and 50’s rockabilly, jump and wail!
