Cloud City 3 started life in 2003 in Melbourne. The band quickly become known to punters in Melbourne for their distinctive vocals, memorable songs and dynamic performances. Music industry folk also took note of their loyal fan base and unlimited potential. "Cloud City came on and just blew me away. In the right hands this band will go places." - Neil Wedd.
In 2006, Cloud City launched their self titled EP to an estimated 600 people in the Espy Gershwin room. In an effort to further hone their craft, the band took a 12 month break in late 2008- mid 2009 to focus on song writing. During this time, the band became a 3-piece and also saw the addition of drummer Marty O'Shea (The Eternal, Bellusiura) to the line-up. This period also saw Sarah take up the bass guitar just 2 months before the band's first gig as a 3 piece, and 3 months prior to recording.
The last few months have been an exciting time in Cloud City. The band made their live debut as a 3 piece in September, and since then have already played with respected Melbourne acts Sydonia, Mushroom Giant and Twelve Foot Ninja. As recently as Oct 2009 the band recorded a 3 track single with producer David Carr (Antiskeptic, Kiss Chasey) which will be released in early 2010. With a focus on quality, not quantity, this release is sure to impress!
REVIEWS
"Cloud City came on and just blew me away. The lead singer stands on the left, her voice just brings you in and I'm singing along with the chorus. Sweet vocals, good harmonies from the other guitarist standing in the middle, the bass player watches the others and plays with bass held high. The drums work in behind, leaving room for the full vocals. Think a female Jeff Buckley.
The songs are just great, the band work together beautifully. She is a star, playing some great lead breaks and just wailing in the vocals. The band have songs that you want to sing along with, the guitars rock. In the right hands this band will go places." -Neil Wedd "the indie initiative"
