Evening News Norwich, Tribute To Carl Walpole RIP 1973 - 2007

Guitarist Carl Wapole has sadly died in his bed on the morning of 14th September. This is a sad moment for me, to try and grasp the sudden loss of a fine and talented musician that dedicated his life to something he believed in with a passion. His contribution extends further than the Cloudminders and the recording studio; Carl was such a caring person and he was a joy to work with. He will be missed by many but his unique guitar playing will live on through his recordings. My deepest condolences go out to his family and the remaining members of the band. Rest in peace dear Carl, I'll see you someday in that musical heaven in the sky.

The Cloudminders are a high octane, multi talented group of musicians. With insane guitar riffs, mesmerising drums, frenzied bass and effortless vocals they create a blend of rock, funk and melody to put your ears in heaven and your mind in the clouds.

The Story So Far

One of Norfolk's Leading bands landed a management deal with Amber Music Productions after Andreas Yiasimi saw them clinch a major competition a couple of years ago. Almost immediately the Amber PR Machine went into motion and Gino, Lee, Carl & Mike found themselves at a Norwich recording studio. The boys have been busy recording a handful of songs that they penned. The Cloudminders beat tough London opposition to take a prestigious position not only by their fine musicianship but also by their genuine passion & enthusiastic determination.

The Cloudminders welcome fellow bands, Media, Venues and fans to join their official MySpace site. Please feel free to leave an add or exchange ideas, gigs and events. As a 15 year-old in Gt Yarmouth, The Cloudminders were the first local band to come along that excited me, inspired me, had songs that my friends and I would go away and work out on the guitar.. I shall listen to Cigarettes & Strawberry Blondes, and think of Carl at the BOTB 2000 Final; head down, hidden behind those long locks, so into the music, but what a powerhouse and what a fantastic musician! Once in a while you meet artists that are naturally gifted, Carl was undoubtedly one of the best with a style and magnetism that complimented his unmistakable smile.
