CLOUDS AND SHINING TREES is Claudio Pacagnan.
After several decades as songwriter, singer, guitarist and behind the scenes as experimenter of new forms of sounds, and the last 10 years dedicated to spiritual research, he presents on March 2009 a new musical work: CAST. Six musical excerpts in his new project: CLOUDS AND SHINING TREES, a new experience with sounds inspired by nature, mountain journeys, cosmic skies and a lot of delays and reverberations.
Influenced in the middle of Seventies by rock and jazz artists such as Bruce Cockburn, Dan Ar Braz, John Martyn, Jerry Garcia, John McLaughlin etc., C.P. started to play the guitar when he was very young and after a year passed to play the drums. At school he learned to play the flute and harmonica with top grades. A particular note: when he started to play the guitar he didn’t know about tuning the instrument and so, for a long time, every time he played the guitar it was tuned to fantasy chords. So he developed a good sense of sound and when he discovered that the guitar has a standard tune he discovered the world of standard notes and chords. Then the next step was to know and to study the “open tunes”. It was easy for him to learn and to invent new chords with beautiful sounds and harmonies.
In 1985 he was guitarist in the dark/new wave group Cleverness and he started to play the guitar with delays and reverbs influenced by his guitar hero The Edge (U2).
In 1987 he founded his own project-group called Rejoice. He composed and sang the songs, supported by a powerful group. Rejoice was well known in Europe, in particular in France and Denmark.
Since 1988 some tapes and a 12” vinyl were produced in his home analog recording studio.
In 1995 he recorded some experimental songs sung in Italian.
So today a new project, a new sound line, a new musical life, a new inner awareness.

"March in Blossom" is an extremely beautiful piece... The tinny sound of the electric behind the acoustic guitar adds a sort of pain to a mellow, chilled out song... the reverb adds atmosphere giving it an all over emotional sound... really like it.
"Cosmic Valley" has a lot of depth and rawness to it... I'm assuming this was with a bow... which always adds darkness to any piece... but it lets me visual something greater... going from low tones to high gives change of mood, it's very relaxing... very simple, but works very harmoniously... quite enjoyable
"The Last Cry of the Forest" I like the nature sounds utilized... again, the high pitches coming in over the lower tones... such depth... almost makes one shudder... and at the same time close your eyes and you can imagine yourself int he middle of the woods watching its slow destruction... years of growth and beauty being swept away in front of your eyes guided by your song...
"Violet Windflowers" The reverb used to set the mood is incredible... this is probably the happiest sounding, but it still has the undertone of sadness... or darkness of some sort. The harmonies are beautiful, I enjoy the movement... this tells an incredible story... this is probably my favorite...
