Hakkımda: Introduction.
This is the myspace profile for Club 85, a live music venue in Hitchin in North Hertfordshire UK.
It is the only dedicated live music venue in the area and is run as a not for profit organisation with the aim of supporting all local bands, and of introducing quality touring and out of town acts to the vibrant scene that has grown up in this great little town of ours.
Coming to club 85.
Club 85 is situated 5 mins walk from Hitchin station, half way between it and the town centre.
As you enter the front door you will meet our friendly door staff, this is where you pay to get in, they will check your ID, and rubber stamp your hand.
The gig room is upstairs, big, quite dark, and has lots of interesting UV activated décor.
The club is well ventilated and has a high ceiling.
UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED, THE FOLLOWING APPLIES TO ALL EVENTS.....
1). Doors open at 7.45pm.
2). The age limit for all events is 16+ and PHOTO ID is mandatory.
3). All live performances finish in time for you to catch the last trains North or South.
How do I check what’s on at Club 85.
Go to www.club-85.co.uk and click on more gigs for the up to date diary of events.
While you are there, if you subscribe to the newsletter you will receive a weekly email with some news etc and the schedule for the next 4 weeks, this goes out every week on a Weds or Thurs evening, you will not get swamped with spam and your email address will not be shown to the other 1000 + recipients, or anyone else for that matter.
Info for bands.
The capacity of club 85 is 225.
The stage is large and high 24’ x 14’ x 3’and has plenty of head room, with a 14’ long fly bar for back drops that trims at 14’ from the stage.
The club 85 PA is made up of good old Court Black Boxes that have a nice warm, yet seriously loud sound.
There is 4 channels of very loud on stage monitors.
It has an adequate lighting rig that will grow in the near future.
Club 85 comes with house engineer, stage and lighting crew.
The load in door is up 3 steps from the side car park and straight into the room, once inside, it’s 3 more steps onto the stage.
Booking policy etc.
Club 85 has a team of promoters each one knowing their field and genre, from Metalcore, Ska/Punk and Hardcore to Indie, new metal and even world music.
It has a policy of no covers bands, tribute bands or Battle of the bands, we support artists who make their own music and expect bands to work together and support each other.
If you are trying to push back the boundaries of modern music this is your place.
There are plenty of pubs and clubs for function bands and band competitions where you are booked because you sell beer rather than because you sound original and interesting.
How to get a gig at Club 85.
Preferred method
The first 20 of the top 40 make up the majority of the team of promoters that use the venue, so have a browse and attack them directly!! Alternatively
A simple email - not a my space message, with the name of your band in the subject line, a few words about the band and a link to a my space or website with pics and tunes sent to bob@club-85.co.uk will immediately get forwarded to all the various promoters, however this happens about 5 times a day so if nothing happens don’t take it personally just resend after a few weeks and keep up the campaign, there are so many good bands out there with the best will in the world there’s no way we will ever manage to put everyone on, to those that we’ve missed …. sorry. Please don't send a demo we can get all the info we need from your my space or website!

As you may or may not be aware
SoundARC hold a charity gig every year at Club 85 in Hitchin in aid of the
Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, and this year we are going to try something
a little different from previous years.
This year we are going to take over the club and
host 37 acts in one weekend putting full bands upstairs and acoustic acts
downstairs in an event that we are calling ARCfest!
It all starts on Friday 4th December at 7pm and
then continues on through Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th from 12pm-11pm
As well as raising money for the Garden House
Hospice in Letchworth, ARCfest will showcase all the different genres of bands
that we at SoundARC have come across over the last 4 and a half years. Over
this weekend a lot of the acts that you will see don’t get a chance to play a
great local venue like Club 85, So as well as hearing new music you will see
all manors of genres and styles from acoustic - Metal - Indie - Rock - Punk -
Electro - Ska - Funk - Hip Hop/Rap - Alternative - Rhythm & Blues - Reggae
- Grunge and loads more that I cant remember!
"Remembrance Day is a well put together tune... you guys are awesome... thanks for combining your skills in a way that brings honour to soldier and country!” Troops In Afghanistan (Operation Sandbox), comment on our myspace page. "This Has To Be The Most Direct And Cutting Anthem Of Modern Times"
We have put a new song up for you, it’s only a rough demo which hasn’t really been mixed well and hasn’t been produced but it will give you a taster of what may come next in our next recording sessions which we are trying to set before Christmas.
Enjoy! It’s called 'Stop'. Please tell us what you think.
