spilled pbr, the space bowl (RIP), the space beater, electric jesus (RIP), psychedelic rugs, the public drums, hot tubes; hot dudes, the propellor of doom and a shitload of amps.
Sounds Like
The bands that currently move molecules within thee hallowed and hollow fire-retardent foam covered walls of Club Awesome:
"A den of iniquity and hiding place of nerds in the guise of rock musicians"
"That really smelly place"
The mighty Club Awesome has been called many things. What it actually is falls rather short of epic subject matter, but might make a good limerick someday. Once, solely the practice space of the popular and well-quaffed band Cave In, the space was soon infested with scruffy, loud and forgetful rodent-type creatures who comprised another force of rock known by some as 'The Most Punctual Band In Boston', and known by others as thee Electric Bastards. Soon thee Bastards--unstable as always--mutated and gave birth to a darker, more muscled brother whom a dyslexic robot would call Hydronaut, who rose from the sea much like the Kracken from 'Clash of the Titans,' but without the hot chick chained up by the water or the cool clay-mation effects. From there the fray was joined by a power that came from sky, not water; one that descended from Mount Olympus, bent on the total destruction of Babylon, and Bacchus, that old immortal incarnation of wine, spoke and called them Clouds. Times were dark and the bands lived in a primordial ooze of beer cans, take-out cartons and man-sweat when suddenly light broke, and the Octave Museum rode gallantly in, planting it's own flag at Club Awesome. Times remained dark, and the beer cans' numbers only grew. After the Museum had been thrown into a vat of nuclear waste, they where then exposed to gamma rays where they mutated into a hideous beast of rock the newspapers erroneously started calling, "Big Mac and the 10-4s" but whose true name was Pet Genius.
Co-existing not merely as separated ape-like families anymore, the blessed/damned creatures of Club Awesome forged a tribe, the likes of which has never been smelt before. Feasting on self-deprecating narcissism, the tribe grew strong and obtained louder amps. Now the stuff of late-rent-paying legend, Club Awesome stands as a tribute to what can be accomplished when not trying too hard to accomplish much in other areas of life.

Featuring members of CLOUDS, OCTAVE MUSEUM, HYDRONAUT and PET GENIUS, and produced by Stephen Brodsky of CAVE IN and NEW IDEA SOCIETY, "Live! At Club Awesome" is a 11-song STUDIO recording of the band playing live at their rehearsal space.
Boston's Thee Electric Bastards, whose expansive psych-pop falls somewhere in among Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd, the Zeppelin end of the White Stripes catalogue (but only if it was scored by an Elephant Six band), and Yoshimi-type Flaming Lips. And if that seems like an awful lot of territory, well, they cover a hell of a lot of it. With songs about futuristic life (Robots Do Not Rock) blatant machismo (The Peepin' Song, Play The Fool), alcoholism and mental health (Millennium Blues, Black Jets), The Bastards have allowed the listener a peek into their sordid little world, where society's ills and fears are celebrated. All of The Bastards songs are well crafted slices of weirdness, with compelling breaks in the music that are sometimes jarring in effect. It harkens back to the days when rock music was more experimental, and less formulaic.
I think Club Awesome is the new "Upstairs at the Bada Bing". Do you keep leftover Italian subs, lo-mein and "Gabagool" in the mini fridge there? It's all coming together now.....
