WiSH this month falls on American Independence Day (4th July). So, to celebrate this important day for our chums across the Atlantic, we are going to ignore them and hold a party at Gramaphone in celebration of Enid Blyton. Her millions of books encapsulate all that is good and bad about England and its attitudes; celebrating a mythical time when children could wander around on their own and the only concern was whether or not Mummy will have dinner on the table in time. Saturday will also be a big day out in London because it is London Pride. So rise and eat a hearty breakfast, have Mummy pack a hamper with lots of ginger beer, put on your Noddy hat (big and red with a bell on the end, filth fans) and climb up our Magic Faraway Tree. Together we can be a blight on humanity and have a jolly, gay time.
If the above has not already made you giddy with excitement, the following will: One of our Famous Five DJs, and our special guest downstairs (it’s nice to have a special guest downstairs isn’t it children?), is KATE LAWLER Yes, that Kate Lawler the one that is looking hotter than the very flames of the very hell on the cover of G3 this month. Kate is one of the smartest cookies that Mummy has ever baked. She’s one of the leading female DJs in the country, regularly rocking the UK’s premier venues and music festivals as well as her residency at Sankey’s in Manchester. Versatile, inventive, energetic and passionate, she’s kicked it alongside some of the worlds biggest DJ's including Eric Prydz, Mark Knight, Sebastien Leger, David Guetta, Steve Angello, 2 Many DJs etc. Whether it’s deep tech or techno, or those main room big house sounds, if you’ve ever seen Kate DJ, you’ll know that she’s as much a part of the crowd as she is maestro of the music. She will be ably supported by our resident Big Ears - KATH HARDING Kath will be idly wandering through the meadows of WiSH with a hamper filled with her best tunes. Even the hard of hearing should hear of Harding. Kate and Kath will be joined by VJ HOBBYBOY on magic rainbow duties.
At the top of the Faraway Tree you will find Moonface – SEAN HEWSON His head is big and white with more craters than a nuclear testing zone. He will be joined by Wish’s own Naughtiest Girl - LA COOP. Our special guest is dj JOHN SIZZLE of Gay Bingo and Gutterslut fame. John, like all good men of the Blyton era, likes to dress up in women’s clothes and combines it with facial hair like The Cockettes. Together they will be committing an affront to all that is good and decent. Good taste, accepted genres, preconceived notions – all will be torn asunder to be replaced by a new strong beauty like the morning sun catching Mr.Plod’s big helmet.
Whether you love Dick or giving Aunt Fanny a great big kiss a gay old time is guaranteed. Doors open at 9pm.....
