About me:
DJ KILO aka JOE GOUVEIA was born in Mozambique, Africa, emigrated to the U.S at the age of 13 with his family. His love for music began at the age of 6 when he received a plastic guitar as a gift from the U.S. He played with the guitar for hours trying to follow in his father’s footsteps as he played in a band. As his older brother Peter would play the guitar, DJ KILO would accompany him with some drumbeats from his mother’s cooking pans. lol. As a kid he didn’t have much, growing up in Poverty in Africa he couldn’t achieve much.
When he emigrated to the U.S in the early 1990’s his hardest achievement was learning a new language. He struggled through out Middle School trying to accomplish something to make his family proud. At the age of 15 he was in High School, although English was his 3rd language KILO had amazing grades which allowed him to graduate with honors. KILO attended a local community college for 2 years.
DJ KILO has been djing for over 13 years, began doing small gigs, private parties, he began renting halls and throwing his own bashes, earning extra cash to acquire better equipment. Later, began djing at Weddings, Showers, and Birthday Parties etc. At the age of 23, DJ KILO was djing in Nightclubs, Bars, Lounges, etc. At the age of 26 DJ KILO owned his own Nightclub with his partner, AL MENDES.
DJ KILO mixes up everything on every event, HIP HOP, MASHUPS, HOUSE, REGGAETON, DANCEHALL, TOP 40 HITZ, ROCK, etc
