Sounds Like
An authorative, insightful, alternative, independent, irreverent guide to everything to do with music. You know what that sounds like, right?
CMU began life as a philosophy - it was a mission to create a network which linked everyone working in music, from the grey haired chief executives of the biggest music and media conglomerates, to the fresh faced aspiring artist, producer or label owner operating out of their bedroom. It all sounds a bit pretentious now we've put it like that, but that's what is was like.
To do this we set up CMU (it stands for College Music Update - the college radio stations and newspapers giving us access to the grass roots), initially as a regular magazine (from 1998 to 2002), and then as an online community (2002 till this morning).
That community now boasts over 15000 members, all connected to music in some way. They all receive our CMU Daily e-newsletter - packed every morning with the latest artist, industry and media news, gig listings, reviews, Pete Doherty gossip and lame gags.

ABOUT CMU SOCIAL
The CMU Social CMU is our monthly night that brings together CMU's readership to meet, greet, chat, cheer, network, socialise and to enjoy some of Team CMU's favourite bands. It takes place on the second Tuesday of every month at 229 in London.
