Who is No Taboo?
In case you don't know them yet, No Taboo is a top notch regional dance band who plays a funky combination of old school rhythm and blues, classic rock, and original bluesy, get up and dance music.
They travel throughout Northern California and Nevada.With a soulful sound that's fun and exciting, they play more than eleven different instruments juggled between the band members. One never knows what instrument they will bring out next.
No Taboo is well known for their 4 part harmonies with fiery lead vocals that inspire their audiences.
Bimmy Rode co/leader and lead vocalist/congas says "In No Taboo having fun, playing with passion, and keeping the creative flow alive is what it’s all about for me." Originally from the S.F. Bay Area, she opened for greats like B.B. King and Taj Mahal, and Jefferson Starship. Her genuine and rich soulful style, makes her one of the most admired singers around NorCal.
The list goes on...Michael Powers, co/leader of the band and guitarist/electric violinist/lead vocals, has roots in Nevada City, but went on to work in L.A. As a songwriter/artistwhere he received production deals for his original music, which appeared in movies and videos in the late 80s. He also worked with the late great music producer Kurt Boettcher who produced the Beach Boys, among others.
Jeff Marshall, bass/lead vocals, came from Santa Cruz where he played with the award winning, hot blues band, "Red Beans and Rice," that are still very popular in the Monterey area. Jeff's flair for playing funk is up there with the best, as well as his own adaptation of the "old school" covers he sings.
David Pazos, drummer, is just as exciting to watch as he is to listen to. He drives this group to the next level and creates an intense yet smooth feeling. He is spontaneous and capable of playing any style. Originally from L.A. he moved his family up to Grass Valley ten years ago, after working for Columbia records.
Aaron Gayden, synthesizer/piano/vocalist has a four octave range and surprises everyone with his "Prince"
vocal renditions. He has a number of Gospel projects he's working on as well as performing in No Taboo. His professional contribution to the band keeps their sound fresh and innovative.
.Tony Kenner from Sacramento plays a variety of saxophones and is called upon to give No Taboo that smooth lazzy sound or funk it up r&b fills and killer solos. Not only does he play, he sings lead, harmonies and get the audience participating with No Taboo. Truly a great addition to this band.
