About me:

Coach Shannyn grew up in Evanston, Ill (Chicago suburb) and culminated his athletic career by training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. from 1997-1999. Prior to the USOTC, Coach Shannyn earned All America honors by winning 3rd place at the celebrated NCAA D-I tournament for Lock Haven University in 1993. He started wrestling in high school, winning the Illinois state championship in 1989.

As an athlete, Coach Shannyn is member of the Eastern Wrestling League Hall of Fame, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Hall of Fame, the Lock Haven University Hall of Fame, and the Evanston Township High School Hall of Fame. Coach Shannyn, who won Greco-Roman and freestyle state titles in Illinois, also won freestyle silver medals at USA Wrestling’s prestigious University Nationals and Jr. Nationals.

Coach Shannyn and his wife, Emily, have two children Jazmyn (7) & Kayla (6). He enjoys photography, music, and reading. His favorite reading subjects are sport training theory, psychology, and business books. He also likes writing in his spare time and has produced many of the articles, photos, and videos to promote the growth of women's wrestling. For more click

Who I'd like to meet:

Since wrestling entered my life almost 25 years ago, the journey around the world has been fantastic. It has been my pleasure via wrestling to travel to most of the United States of America and several other countries. It has been great to meet people of different cultures and backgrounds and to find out how similar we really are. Begining in 1993, these are the places traveled to and the people in these lands have been the most amazing and interesting people to communicate with: Italy, Bulgaria, Poland, Greece, Canada, Mexico, Lithuania, China, Mongolia, Japan, Austria, and Spain.
