Coalition for Peace and Justice's Blurbs |
About me:
The Coalition for Peace & Justice (CPJ) and our sister group, the South Jersey campaign for Peace & Justice (SJCP&J) are regional chapters of Peace Action, the country's largest grassroots peace and justice organization, with over 120,000 members nationwide.
CPJ covers southern New Jersey from southern Ocean County to Cape May to Salem to Glassboro. We work on these issues: Ending the war in Iraq and bringing the troops home; alternatives to war; nuclear weapons abolition; cutting our bloated military budget and increasing investmetns in human needs; weapons trafficking; ending the death penalty; the assault on weapons ban; conflict resolution.
We hold weekly and monthly peace vigils and events in our area. We lobby Congress; we write letters to the editor and call in to local talk shows; we organize buses to protests in Washington D.C., and do outreach at town fairs, concerts, and the NJEA convention.
SJCP&J covers Camden, Burlington, and (parts of) Gloucester Counties. Currently we are focused on ending the occupation of Iraq and bringing the troops home. Among other issues we are involved in are: acheiving a just resolution to the Israeli/Palestinian question; participating in the annual Cuba Caravan to deliver humanitarian supplies there; and stopping U.S. intervention throughout Latin America and elsewhere.
We have a weekly vigil in Cherry Hill (opposite the Cherry Hill Mall). we also frequently leaflet at the PATCO high speed line stations, sponsor programs on timely topics, and join demonstrations in Washington, D.C. and other locations.
New Events!:
Check out the calender for this upcoming summer's new events. It will be updated throughout, so check back for more.
Some of this summer's events include: peace vigils, Eyes Wide Open Exhibit, Hiroshima Commemoration, and more.
