For Brown, a recent cancer survivor, Stars&Curses is a victory lap. Deli Magazine says. "... evokes "Mind Games" Lennon to the lighter side of My Morning Jacket." and Performing Songwriter calls Stars&Curses "..awash with atmosphere, ... all shimmer and seduction."
Produced by Will Golden (Meiko, Gary Jules, Buddy), the record features guest turns from some great musicians, including David Immergluck (Counting Crows) and Ollie Kraus (Sia, Tom McCrae).
Says Brown, “We really took our time and were able to have all these great players come in. Will and I had talked long ago about doing some work together, but the timing had never worked out. Thankfully, this time it did.”
2009 is off to a stellar start...
In January, Coby was featured on American Airlines “Filter In Flight” audio playlist with “Your Luck is Going To Change”, as well as in Filter Magazine’s “Good Music Guide” that same month.
Additionally, Brown cowrote and performed the song over the end credits of Rod Lurie's (the Contender) movie "Nothing But the Truth". Brown's song Madman can be heard over the end credits of the forthcoming indie release, "Wake".
