Emerging from the underground with “a deceptively fierce heart, even as it smiles sweetly at the listener through the dust dancing in shafts of sunlight.” (Nemesis To Go Magazine, UK ) Cockatoo are an Edmonton (Canada) based band formed in 2005. They are most easily described as an unusual band dancing upon the shoulders of many alternative and post punk greats, such as Siouxsie and The Banshees, The Chameleons,The Cure, Bauhaus, Echo & The Bunnymen,and The Sugar Cubes.
Notable shows to date have included opening for The Romantics, Brian Jonestown Massacre, and The Raveonettes.

Following the storming first night of New Heavy Sounds in September (with the marvellous BO-NINGEN headlining), we're super excited about the next NHS night, with zombie-baiting wonders CHICKENHAWK supported by the brilliant heavy garage of BAD FOR LAZARUS, the tight'n'heavy FRAFF and Cardiff's great STRANGE NEWS FROM ANOTHER STAR.

Things are going absolutely brilliant! We've had some great gigs and we've got some more to come. We met White Lightning and played a gig with them. Impressive guitar and bass playing, Steve did it all!
