Studies in Articulation
"Studies in Articulation" An abstract dance that explores the absorption of sound, space and the effect of musical accents on the body. Using headphones as a symbol of the way we listen to the world around us, dancers examine their individuality and ability to operate as a group in a complex, urban setting. The music is an original sound score crafted by Percoco, based on a self-recording of three technical articulation studies for saxophone.
DUET FOUR TWO
. A creative and introspective duet/quartet which uses video and sweeping movements to explore ideas of self-consciousness, reflection, voyeurism and self-evaluation in the context of private and public space. Videography by Ania Greiner of the performance art group “3 card Molly.” Performed to the music of Andrew Bird
I hate solos
A former hater of solo dances, i challenged myself to examine the aesthetic and deeply personal reasons for distaste of the form while weaving ideas and synonyms of what it means to be alone on stage, or in life. Performed to original music by D.C. based musician Emily Pakes
I've Been Told I Look Like Britney Spears Inspired by the many incomprehensible comparisons others have drawn between Liana and America’s favorite white-trash pop diva, this fun, no-holds-barred piece takes a look at how celebrity likenesses affect our identity and independence, dreams and hopes. Danced to a crazy sound score of Britney's hit songs!

cocodancegroup is a small ensemble of dance artists that perform the choreography of Liana C. Percoco, an independent choreographer currently making work in Chicago, Illinois USA. Liana’s theatrical and occasionally humorous choreography, explores issues of identity and individuality in unique and entertaining ways. Incorporating the diverse media elements of video, text, original music, and theatrical sensibilities cocodancegroup strives to connect with its audience through the universality of movement and music.
“You, ME, Britney Spears and a Pair of Blue Headphones” was choreographer Liana C. Percoco’s first full-length, self-produced show which premiered in Chicago, Illinois in March 2007. Dancer, Choreographer, and Spoken Word Arist Makoto Hirano from Philadelphia performed as a guest artist. The group brought the show to the Boulder International Fringe Festival in August 2007.
Liana was an artist-in-residence at LOCUS, (formally the spareroom) a time-arts cooperative from October 2006-April 2007 and was the recipient of a 2007 City of Chicago Community Arts Assistance Program Grant.
Liana is a graduate of the Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago. Her dances have been presented at the Dance Center, Getz Theatre, Around the Coyote Arts Festival, Dance Chicago, TicToc Performance Art Series, and Stockyard Theatre’s Womens’ Performing Arts Festival. Her aesthetic is based in post-modern dance and draws from a variety of influences including jazz dance, social dance, gestured movement, ballet, cultural traditions, and a wide variety of music.
As of October 2007 Liana is currently in Boulder, Colorado attending the Boulder College of Massage Therapy's 1000 hour certification program. Liana is working on small solo and duet projects with artistic associate Natalja Aicardi, and cocodancegroup is planning on producing a show in late 2008 or early 2009 in Chicago, with possible tours to Fringe Festivals in the Summer 2008.

Hey Liana, it was nice to see you this past weekend, everyone was kind of split up at the bar so I know we didn't get a chance to talk but looks like everything is going great for you. I was watching the video on your profile and that movement is beautiful!!!! Seriously, awesome. Well I am sure we will run into another at something soon. Peace Out, have a great day.
Hey Liana!! I wish I were there to see your show this weekend and I hope it goes well. Also I hope down in Chicago you guys have avoided all the crazy snow we are having im mpls.... Anyway maybe you should do a midwest tour and bring your troupe up here!
LA is great. Your girl Britney is always causing trouble. Funny how People Magazine makes LA seem like Britney and Paris are always caught frolicking in the streets. I never see famous people, which is just fine.
Have a wonderful show! : )
thanks for coming out and for the bday wishes. i was working then had yoga school all day yesterday. plus i wasn't feeling very good. hope you had an awesome show. i usually stay hidden after shows, don't you know? the crowds make me nauseous...urgh
Grocery store music dance movie about consumerism? Sounds good to me!! That music is great, it's like they played the original song on a radio, buried it in blankets, then recorded that.
Also, Columbia is good so far, I'm totally older and am into way different stuff than my classmates, but this semester I'm going to get to start making movies, and that, of course, fucking rules!
Lez get 2gether soon for sure. I've heard of this thing called "dancewalk" or something, where you walk around and dance at the same time. Maybe you can choreograph this for me?
