Mike is the first born of three children to Joseph and Hazel Bagent on September 25, 1957 in Bogalusa, Louisiana which is on the Eastern border of Washington Parish in the "Florida Parishes" section of Louisiana near the Pearl River, the dividing line between Louisiana and Mississippi. The name Bogalusa is historically derived from the Choctaw Indian named creek, "Bogue Lusa" that flows through the city.
During his youth, Mike showed an undeniable interest in playing music, picking up the guitar at age 7 years old. He also enjoyed strumming to tunes of the Blues and Gospel music. By age 12, his parents enrolled him in weekly piano lessons, and the rest is history!
Later years, he joined a local band called "Deep South" and traveled extensively to schools and auditoriums across South Louisiana. During the time he was with the Deep South Band, this is when he experienced first-hand, the joys and pleasures of opening shows at concerts for some top-named acts; such as, Kool and the Gang, and, Sun and Pleasure.
Subsequently, Deep South disbanded some time after and "Mike B" went on to perform with various local R&B and Jazz bands, all the while, continuing to hone on his chops and recording skills.
Having built an independent recording studio in the metro New Orleans area, "Mike B" is continuously sought-after as an accomplished keyboardist, lyricist and producer. By and large, "Mike B" is a gifted musician and a prolific songwriter and has worked with many local artists, such as:
Vanessa J. Demley
R&B Singer and native of New Orleans, Louisiana, home of the world's famous "Mardi Gras." She made her debut in 1989 by joining the Total Control Band as lead female vocalist. Vanessa and TCB performed in many different venues throughout Louisiana. After leaving TCB in 1991, Michael L. Bagent, President of Code III Music discovered Vanessa's talents and took her under his wings as his prodigy. She later performed with widely-known local recording artists Real Love and the phenomenal Sammy Ridgley. Moreover, Vanessa worked as a back-up vocalist on many gigs with local Rap artists from around the city and inspirational Gospel singing groups. Vanessa is an up-and-coming artist and definitely, New Orleans' best-kept secret.
