The Code Names define rock 'n' roll. They are the longest running act in the history of rock music, having remained wildly popular and prodigiously productive over their 30-year career. The group was formed by Royal Nasager and Charlie Black, who met as schoolmates in Dartford, Kent. The legend has them bumping into each other on the platform at Dartford railway station, where Charlie notices a blues album under Roy's arm. A bond is struck immediately and the pair go on to form a band with a variety of personnel, who eventually include a boogie-woogie pianist called Lindsay and a gifted blonde drummer from Cheltenham called Shayne Cox (although at the time he is calling himself Elmo Lewis for added authenticity). Mike joins late in the year -- the popular story being that he was asked because he had his own amplifier! After Charlie's untimely death, Mandi left the Oxford School of Music, and a lucrative teaching position to fill the significant void left by Charles. The Code Names continue to redefine rock music and themselves in the process. Dagny Dagny Dagny!
It was great to see you guys last night. That last song was pretty damn good, I swear I could feel the Johnny Cash vibe though, I really liked that a lot.
Hope our paths cross soon,
