Molly McGinnis is one of those people who you go through life searching for. I just happened to be lucky enough to stumble across her path when I was only 15. She is the most amazing best friend I could ever want or need. No matter what happens, she and I are always there for each other and I never want this friendship to end. Hopefully she falls in love with Berkeley and will be able to move to San Francisco so we can live together in this amazing city. I know she and I will be friends until the end and nothing will ever break us apart! I love you Molly McGinnis! Besties forever! <33Comment |
Well, welcome to my page I guess. Maybe you know me, maybe you have heard about me, or maybe you randomly stumbled upon across this space. Either way, I will start at the beginning. My name is Cody Baker, creator of the company Baker Designz. More about my site will be found in another module somewhere on this page. I am seventeen years old and am an aspiring entrepreneur. I devote all of my time to learning, whether it be computer programming, design with Photoshop and Illustrator, or business tactics. I know will all of the effort I put into learning, and into growing my business, there is nothing to do except succeed. I am somewhat of a tech junkie as well, meaning tinkering with computer hardware is another thing I consume myself with. I am a fan of finding ways to 'break the system' as I call it and end up succeeding eventually. I hacked through corporate security when I was 13 years of age. Just a wee lad, my father had his IT company setup a new security network as his aerospace manufacturing company, Baker Manufacturing, was growing immensely. The company proceeded to tell my father that this new security system was impenetrable. The second he informed me of this, I was set on breaking the system. Three months later, I was hit with the enjoyment of success! I had done it! Thirteen years old and I had cracked corporate security. I was extremely happy and even happier when the IT company decided to hire me when I turned 16. My passion for technology was soon taken over though by a new love for the sport of motocross. I wanted to race, to go fast, and to win! I had always had this little XR-80, but had never pursued racing. I got more and more into the idea of racing and my parents, being as supportive as they were, decided to pull me out of high school and put me in online school to help further my racing ability. From the moment my first gate dropped, all I wanted to do was be on my bike and race. I raced basically every weekend for 2 years besides a couple weeks here and there for a broken wrist or two. Then came the crash, the near life ending experience. We were over in eastern Washington, at a PRO race at Horn Rapids. It was just a little warm up race as I was leaving for World Minis in Las Vegas two days later. I am not quite sure what happened after I made it to the first turn out front, but what happened after was not good. Three days later, I wake up in Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. It turns out I had a horrible mid-air collision with another rider. I was unconscious and rushed to the nearby hospital. There were no doctors there qualified to care for me so I was immediately life flighted to Harborview. I was put on life support with tremendous trauma to my brain. I spent 3 days like this with the doctors warning my parents I could end up a vegetable, and that I could wake up and not know who they were so they should be prepared for the worst. Once back home, I didn't really get out of bed for weeks. I slept constantly and had no interaction with anybody. Over the next year, I had a great recovery, waiting for the chance to be back on the bike again. I had therapy as I had messed up my shoulder pretty bad in the crash too. At the end of my year long recovery, I hopped back on the bike, but was way slower. I got back into the gym, and with my trainer, Jay Whipple, but was not coming back as fast as I had hoped. Then at the beginning of last summer, I was at Washougal racing another PRO race, when in Saturday morning's practice, my friend Rocky died on horse power hill. It was a horrible day, nobody was themselves, but the racing commenced. I received a couple top 5 finishes so I was pretty happy with that. Then Sunday came around, first moto was decent, but I was just not myself, I didn't know why I was out on the track, especially after almost dying the year before. I come up to the face of a table, get cross rutted and come off the face sideways. As I hit the ground on the other side, I was slammed into the dirt. When I came too, I knew I was done, that was it, no more racing. At this time though, we had brand new bikes, a truck, a racing trailer, and support so my parents decided to help out local riders and take them to the top. Thus was born BRT, Baker Racing Technologies. This company and team have developed immensely over the last year and we are now preparing to hit the market with a product line. I am now back into my love for technology and design. My computers consume my life. I started the company Baker Designz with my friend Justin who is also an amazing developer. We have big plans for this company and devote our lives to learning more and growing our company. I have decided to attend the Academy of Art here in the Fall and am planning on moving to San Francisco in July. I am sure this school will teach me even more and help me be involved with the right people. San Francisco is a tech town as Silicon Valley is right on it's borders. |
