So far I've heard a few things. Some I'm exceptionally proud of. Matchbox 20, Hootie and the Blowfish, Edwin McCain, and even Phil Collins, lmao. I'd say thats a good start.
Hey guys it's Cody. Most of you know me that have seen me on stage will find yourself thinking several things. 1) that this isn't really me; 2) that it doesn't sound anything like me; and 3) that this isn't anything like you expected.
Well you'd be right on two counts. It is a lot different from what a lot of you have come to expect from me. And no I'm not singing high at the top of my lungs anymore. But it is one hundred percent me. This has been a long time in the making. "If only for awhile..." was written nearly half a decade ago, and I've been holding onto it since then. This has been a side project and a secret love of mine since I started playing. And now I've decided to record it and share it with you.
So far it's been met with amazing results. Results I never would have expected. Frank at Smart Studios will attest to the fact that I was a nervous wreck when I walked into his office a few months ago. It was scary to be putting myself out there on so personal a level.
But here I am. And hopefully these won't fall on deaf ears.
I thank you for giving it a chance even if it isn't your style. I'm glad you gave it a chance and me the opportunity.
But if you do enjoy it, I can't thank you enough. I'm exceptionally proud of these songs, and I'm glad you liked what you heard.
Keep your eyes and ears open for things to come. In the meantime, comment, and tell your friends! I need all the help I can get. :)
Cody, I don't think the husband/fiancee/boyfriend of the 3 of us would like that too much seeing as how one's married, the other's engaged and I'm just well, I'm just at the end of it all. Ha!
It'll come to you when it's supposed to. If it turns out anything like the Rain Song, you are the man...one of the best songs ever in my opinion. Page pulled it out with that one on guitar. I used to love playing it, but haven't in a long while. I need to get back to my roots some. Let me know when you get done and get it put up...I'd like to hear it.
