Black coffee, red wine, late nights, hand-tailoring and modifying clothes, old-school video games, Latin dancing (salsa, and I desperately want to learn to tango), some reading, some writing, chemistry, black holes, jewelry, industrial tools, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, baths sans bubbles, making fun of the art industry, bread, old mechanical typewriters and other such vintage technology, and cats. Many many cats!
Music
Some favorites, in no particular order: Tori Amos, Halou, Imogen Heap, Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab For Cutie, Prince, The Postal Service, Depeche Mode, Vienna Teng, Hello Saferide, Bjork, Garbage, Damien Rice, Yoko Kanno, Goldfrapp, Barenaked Ladies, Gotan Project, and I have an affair with OverClocked Remixes. I'm more an electronica sort of girl, as opposed to a rock sort of girl. The only thing I seem to be consistently opposed to is modern country. And as hard as I try, I just can't seem to actually enjoy bluegrass.
Movies
Amelie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, The Goonies, Boondock Saints, Die Hard, Grosse Pointe Blank, A Christmas Story, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, etc., etc. I like smart comedies, and I like dark comedies. I also have a (rather big) thing for BBC period dramas.
Books
A couple of my favorites include mind-bogglingly boring titles such as "Pride and Prejudice" and "A Tale of Two Cities" (Sydney Carton is my pessimistic, drunken, has-been lawyer hero). I'm quite the Douglas Adams and Neil Gaiman fan. I also have a thing for Modernist poetry, particularly T.S. Eliot.

About me: I'm a metalsmith/jeweler, and a printmaker on the side. Which basically just means I'm an artist who can wield a mean hammer and likes dangerous, industrial equipment and caustic chemicals.
I like good conversation. I like sarcastic, dry humor. I like how you can tell a lot about a person from their hands.
I dislike pretentious, conceptual art fucks.
Check out my official, real blog if you like. Sometimes I say things of moderate interest. http://chromaticfifths.blogspot.com/
Proof that the only thing crazier than J-pop is...retro J-pop. Japan, have I told you lately that I love you?
Who I'd like to meet: People who don't piss me off, I suppose. I guess that's a good place to start. I'll expand from there.
So Kevin and I got library cards today from the Columbus library and I have gone crazy reserving books and DVDs. I'm number 760 in line for the movie 27 Dresses. On a brighter note, they had Pride & Prejudice in stock and at the exact location we were at so I am now 1 hour and 42 minutes into the fabulous 6 hour version. Bring on Colin Firth in a wet shirt!!
How come the last 6 comments are from me? Don't you have any other friends? BRE! Where are you!?!
Anywho, I am watching Jane Eyre right now. I DVRed it. I will save it on the DVR until you come down to visit and we can watch it together. We can also watch anything else that is on the DVR which includes about 10 Stargates, 6 Dr. Who's, and a random Sci Fi movie.
Ok so I wasn't able to leave nearly as many comments as I would have liked. Apparently everyone knows when both of my bosses are gone and that is when everything breaks and needs answers. (Note: I typed all of the above 45 minutes ago and am just now getting back to this comment).
So anywho, I hope you have fun tonight with the gang. But not too much fun because I don't want to miss out on all of it!! I might call sometime tonight and we can have a conference call of funness.
Oh, and Tim is welcome to come down with you or if you want to invite the gang they are welcome too. Unfortunately we don't have a guest room anymore but at least we have carpet throughout the apartment and still have the pull out couch!!
OMG I completely forgot about Colin Firth taking a dip...**drooling** (We are not normal women BTW). And I love the idea of making Kevin wear 1800s coats. I'm going to suggest that to him.
And yes you must bring North & South when you come to visit. Speaking of which, can we pick a weekend that you are coming so that I have something to look forward to?
FYI I have a feeling that I will be leaving you several comments today because both of my bosses are out and it's a Friday which means that today will be S-L-O-W.
Ok so I've watched the 2005 version twice now and I think I am think I am falling in love with Matthew Macfadyen (the guy who plays Mr. Darcy). I think he does an amazing job in this role. Although looking at photos of him without his 1800s garb on makes him less sexy. I am trying to convince Kevin to start talking with an English accent. No luck thus far but I'm going to keep trying.
I'm watching the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice. I think I do prefer the BBC version that is 6 hours long though. How come every time I watch a period film I think of you??
That is about the creepiest thing anyone has ever said to me. Did you save it and put it in a locket? It could be worth something one day. And are you even sure it's mine? I'm sure you have plenty of blonde chicks laying in your bed nowadays. Just saying....
