We are an experimental electric folk band. Electric folk is a hybrid musical form, bringing the old music that resonates in our bones into the tech-savvy twenty-first century.
You can find a good working definition of electric folk here. Right now, we are leaning heavily on American folk music, although you can expect to hear music from a wider variety of folk traditions as time goes on---Daniel has been listening to a lot of Celtic music, lately.
Also, we are adding originals as fast as Disa can get them down on paper---and sometimes faster---so there may be an unearthly-sounding electronic/experimental show in the near future.
Cogniphilia brings you songs to engage your ears and your brains. This group performs music that is exciting and spiritual without being religious or sentimental. We want you to think about the world around you in a different way, and come away from it changed.
We play electric folk, gospel, blues, rock and a bunch of original music that is nothing at all like that dull everyday stuff that Frank Zappa called "wallpaper for your lifestyle".
