intermorphic.com: my new company, and one that creates tools for nurturing ideas ("noatikl" generative music and "liptikl" lyric engines, noatikl.com and liptikl.com respectively)
colartz.com: my personal website with more songs, recordings, artworks etc.
Cut my teeth on computer music with Koan Pro. Looking forward to seeing how well Noatikle integrates with Ableton. Long Story and Legend establish and maintain clear, contemplative moods. Keep up the good work.
Yes, on a good day I can write three songs ... on others I am just lazy ... sad but true.
I actually find that writing songs is very easy ... the hard part is arranging them to make them convey the message that I a 'truly' want to convey.
I think in this instance I am jealous of such artists as Tom Waits who seems to be able to get a lyric and put the feeling into it like he is having breakfast or going down the road for milk ... once again this is where ... to me ... generative processes is so usefull.
FYI - yes I am regarded as a 'freak' when it comes to songwriting and solo work - the muso's that I have chosen to work with are always amazeded at the fact the the can not see me for a day a come back and hear two or four new 'good' and ocasionally 'great' songs the next time they see me ... I personally think it is just a form of insanity or some strange mental condition ...
The biggest problem I now face is sorting out the material and chosing the songs.
I have read a lot of song-writing interviews and dont think this is unusual - eg Lou Reed says he can write many more songs than me - but his ease at making the message is amazing.
Hope that made sense. I think the sad truth is ... as Santana puts it ... rationalisation of music is so rediculious ... unfortuantely for me ... I am now measured by it being an academic ... but I personally believe in music as a very simple message ... one which is non academic.
Music is for the people - not for books and cannot be rationalised so easily as some ppl chose.
talking with a guitarist recently - he said he argued with his university teacher because he felt the scale being used sounded bad ... the teacher responded by saying his ears were that of a four year old ... he responded that the university teacher had lost touch with the people because of intellectualisation ... I think this is true and the battle I face ... sadly for me.
Just on what I was saying about songwriting - in my own case I can usually write about three songs a day. In all the extensive research I have done on songwriters I find this to pretty normal for the songwriter. However - the presentation case in my own particular case - mainly cause of the academic 'crapola' that goes along with it has taken years. Once again I find through research that the norm is for the presentation to take a long time in order for the artist to present what they deem a communicative piece of music. This is where what you are doing with intermorphic is exciting - for generating ideas for presentation. Also for those who suffer writers block in the writing stage. BTW I think I have just about every songwriting book there is on my shelf, and I have read maybe 95% of those in depth. So - I can safely say I speak from my own experience and from the experience of others. Cheers
Tim, I don't post comments unless I mean them - and on your songs, I would say it is not so much your songwriting as the presentation that needs work - I do like the image of your progressive psychedelic style/ good paintings too. Cheers D

Don't tell Robert Jaz what a good guitarist he is, it will go straight to his head and we'll have to pay heim more. Though i do agree he is quite good.
Thanks for adding us by the way, it was fun finding you.
V.Majestic approves.
