My goal in life is to become a sophisticated, old-world gentleman. At the moment I am working on the gentleman bit. I think I have the old-world thing pretty much sorted. Please don't think me pretentious.

I'm passionate about English romanticism, the backstreets of Gion, red toffee apples, neo-platonism, Russian everything, Care Bears, the art nouveau, Converse Chuck Taylor hi-tops, gothicism, the black-letter, marzipan, the House of Lords, Max Brenner souffle and anything green tea-flavoured. I am especially partial to gold leaf, candle-light and Koine Greek.

I despise all fashions emanating from Newtown, Surry Hills and any other such suburban wanker-colonies, be they of the sartorial or intellectual sort. I likewise eschew all things indie, which are clearly the misbegotten attempts at coolness and glamour of those not pretty enough to be cheerleaders and/or jocks. I abhor both the twentieth century and the twenty-first and make no secret of the fact. I especially revile natto.

I'd like to meet Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky, Charlotte Bronte, John the Divine, Queen Victoria, Xenia, Fool for Christ, (Bloody) Mary Tudor, Coleridge, Lord Justice Denning and the Woman in Mark 14:3.
