I don't necessarily sound like all these people, but I suppose they've all influenced me in one way or another; Kate Bush, Annie Lennox, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Cyndi Lauper, Stevie Nicks, The Cure, Tori Amos, Nine Inch Nails, Nick Cave, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Skunk Anansie, Ratm, Leonard Cohen, Korn, Qotsa, Rhcp, Jeff Buckley, Michael Jackson, Dire Straits, Prefab Sprout, Sarah McLachlan, Eddie Reader, early Simply Red, Rocky Horror,The Smiths, Placebo, Portishead, Incubus, Roisin Murphy, Ten Sharp, Jamiroquai, Deacon Blue, Elton John, Andreas Vollenweider, Joe Hisaishi, Mozart, Danny Elfman, Michael Nyman, Beethoven, Philip Glass, Karl Jenkins, Mike Oldfield, Grieg... Influences on me as a person; 80's cartoons (esp the moral message at the end of He-man), LM Montgomery novels, anything to do with Georgian history, lots of different religions, the art of Dali, Toulouse-Lautrec, Monet, Vermeer, and any kind of fantsy art I can get my hands on (esp Corey Wolfe and Jessica Galbraith), my modern studies teacher when I was at school, Gandhi (my hero), cheesy Merchant-Ivory films, the faeries in my garden that give me loads of (really high-pitched) advice.

Eh, it sounds like a wee chick who plays the piano and sings about stuff that really annoys her. That didn't help at all did it...

"A breathtakingly stunning debut album... While the easiest similarity would be Cyndi Lauper doing Keane, the theatrics of the music coupled with the dark undertone of on-the-surface upbeat songs harks also to Freddie Mercury and Queen... Colette McKendrick should do for pianos what KT Tunstall has done for girls with guitars. An incredible beginning." - Rick Fulton, THE DAILY RECORD
"Her fluid broken chords and etherial phrases are bound to make an impression on her already diverse audience... Will definately get people clapping." - Kirstie Swain, THE EXTRA
"Colette McKendrick has created something for those of those who value intelligence in our music... Sharply observed, almost acidic lyrics show her ability to give insight to the human condition... Remarkably mature and adventurous. Without doubt, Ms McKendrick is an original." - www.BluesBunny.co.uk
"By now the songs speak for themselves. Anyone with even a passing knowledge of the myspace site has probably been entranced by the snippets of Voyerism, Colour and Peter Pans Biggest Fan already... But tonights highlight is the song that other bands will probably beat down Colette's door and hit her with a stick for, Find Me. The latter is a song of such completely realised brilliance that the songwriters she is arguably rubbing shoulders with Tori Amos, Imogen Heap, Dresden Dolls, et cetera would whimper and scurry off into a cave should they hear it. At the next available opportunity get out and see her in an intimate venue because you wont have the chance for long. Calling Jools! " - Russell Moore, THE LICK MAGAZINE (lickmag.com)
"I think I love it. I'm pretty sure I do. It's perfect. At times it's jaunty, it's often heartbreaking and it's consistently beautiful. All that needs to happen now is for all of you to realise how great this album is... This is an essential buy, and possibly a Scottish album of the year" - SCENESTER PROMOTIONS, REVIEW PAGE
"I haven't really heard anyone do something like this since Queen...with the proper note perfect pretentious 'old fashioned' pop that turns into a raging monster now and then... Very good performances and well written." - www.garageband.com
"...Fantastic music that makes you feel good, that makes you want to learn to tapdance. It reminds you that there's still some cracking stuff in the world to be discovered and enjoyed so go taste something new... Buy Colette's album. You will regret nothing." - Fraser Cameron, JOURNALIST

Led by ex-Teenage Fanclub/Soup Dragons drummer Paul Quinn, Scottish melodic rockers the Primary 5 make '60s and '70s-influenced melodic rock not dissimilar to the drummer's former employers, but with even more enthusiasm and general panache!
