Colin has been playing and singing in bands since the tender age of 12, playing bass guitar / vocals with his first band The Whirlwinds (1961)
Along with every other young hopeful 60’s band, he put his songs on vinyl, but it wasn’t until the early 80’s that Colin had any form of chart success.
Colin’s funk band Capidici had a top 10 hit in the European Charts in 1980 with his self-penned single “Hero”.
Having been around now for many years, Colin has plenty of fond memories of playing alongside the likes of The Searchers, Fortunes, Hollies, Slade, Alvin Stardust, David Bowie, Robert Plant and more recent top country duo The Bellamy Brothers as well as Albert Lee and Hogan’s Heroes!
At the same time as living slightly on the wild side of the music scene, Colin managed somehow, to study at Wolverhampton University and come away with an Engineering degree, leading to careers in various fields such as design, teaching, and lecturing.
It was in 1990 that Colin gave up his teaching career for a full time music career.
Colin has been on the country music scene now for over 20 years in various bands such as, Nevada, Santee Fe, The Bob McKinlay Band, The Fidoe Band and for the last 10 years or so with top country acts The Everlys Experience & Easy-Rider, along with his sidekick Geoff Bate, leading to some country and linedance success in 2001 with their version of “Union Mare, Confederate Grey” from their CD “On the Western Trail.”
As a country duo & band Colin has released over 10 Albums, 3 of which were self-penned! He has worked all over Europe & the UK at all the leading C.M.Festivals etc and lastyear Colin played The Wolvestock C.M.festival for the first time as a Solo Artist!
The Black Country Cowboy is a NEW solo project to go alongside his duo & band work and the name comes from that part of the country where Colin was born & bred. (ie. the historic industrial side of the West Midlands, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Tipton, Brierley Hill etc)
To launch this new solo project, Colin has released two solo CD’s aptly entitled“ Retro” & “More Retro”. Both include some of Colin’s own compositions.
