Since 2004, Colin Sales has transformed himself from bedroom/private party DJ, to one of Glasgow’s most recognised names within the city’s house community.
Born in Paisley, and currently residing in the city, Colin has made the successful transition from clubber to DJ in a remarkable space of time, earning him respect within the house community not only in Scotland, but also on the continent.
His style crosses many sub-genres of house music, offering an array of emotions and feelings, whether it’s in the bar before the night has taken shape or in the club where his sets can reach peak time. His musical tastes range from his soulful sound that he plays in the bar (or sometimes the club!!) to a warmer, funky house sound, right through to proper pounding electro house that you may hear him play at peak time. Colin’s style is constantly evolving and he can seamlessly mix between varying styles according to the vibe.
Away from the clubbing environment, Colin has become an accomplished radio DJ, showcasing his music selection and skills to the world on his weekly Global Groove Radio show that can be heard on a selection of the world’s biggest internet radio stations as well as on FM in Greece and the Canaries. His show is constantly gaining popularity in all corners of the world and in 2008 had over 25,000 hits on its Podcast alone.
Instantly gaining respect from his clubbing peers, Colin was given the prestigious honour of hosting the ‘Defected In The House’ radio show in 2005, showcasing some of the world’s leading DJ’s in the mix. This feat made all the greater with the title of world’s greatest house label being bestowed on the ever expanding UK label.
Colin has recently made a move into the world of journalism, as he is now writing reviews for Defected.com.
As well as being an established house DJ, Colin has been working on the production side of house music, and now has a number of releases and remixes under his (big) belt on various labels including Universe Media, Open Bar Music, Future Street Music, Reelgroove, Soulheat, Slammin Sounds, Influential House and more.
Within five years Colin has established a reputation within the house community that is set to continue expanding over the coming years. Working for clubs and organisations such as Colours, Hed Kandi, Godskitchen, Creamfields, and internationally for All4Music in Poland, and Tokyma FM in Switzerland, Colin is building a reputation and career for himself that shows no sign of slowing up.
