London-based electronic artist Waterson is originally from Glasgow, and after a mega-successful career as a contemporary dancer, including a stint on Broadway in Matthew Bourne’s Tony award-winning ‘Swan Lake’, and as one half of the team behind legendary London club-night ‘Drama,’ he started to write and record in his unique and eccentric singing style.
He has a string of club releases under his belt, with his first track on Junior Boys Own becoming a favourite in the boxes of DJ Paulette and Tom Stephan. His recent Pete Tong-discovered club smash ‘I Love Linda’ reached the Top Ten in most of the major download charts, with support from Stonebridge, Smokin’ Jo, Jonathan Ulysses, Mischa Daniels and Freemasons.
He has also recorded a full-length album ‘Dada’ which gathered great reviews and global radio play-listing upon release. Cult UK music website Leonard’s Lair said, “...a great beginning for a solo artist who really doesn’t sound like anyone else around at the moment...” whilst The Mag stated “...both the husky low tones and high-register keening are reminiscent of David McAlmont, the finest torch singer of his generation...”
Standout songs from his self-written repertoire continue to appear in radio playlists all round the globe including BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, Pulse, Kiss FM, Virgin Radio, Galaxy, Radio Beach and Ibiza Global Radio. Roger Sanchez thinks his vocal is “...deep, dark and sensual...” on 'Strip Down' by The Gimpz and his song 'Fa Fa Feel' has become an underground club hit with the electro cognoscenti.
At the moment he is working on new tracks with Defected Records' latest signing Kris Di Angelis, international producer Michael Gray and chart-topping Italian dance duo Flower Power, whilst his forthcoming new singles are being remixed by dOP, Shield, Harry ‘Choo Choo’ Romera, Oliver Lang, Jose Nunez, Landed and The Nightstylers.
New collaboration with Kriss Darang & Harj called ‘Paradise’ is out on Sinq Records very soon, new solo single ‘Fa Fa Feel’ is out later this year on Oxyd/Universal and fan favourite (which Hot Chip frontman, Alexis Taylor says, “...is really strong and hooky...”) ‘Boys On The Dancefloor’ sees a full release too.
Waterson has recently signed with On The Run for a series of single releases and a brand new album, 'Basquiat Beats' in 2010. He's thrilled to working with an amazing team of mixers, engineers and producers for this LP. More details to follow...
