    Collaroy's Interests
GeneralI love to go out with friends (movies, game nights, bars, clubs), but I also need alone time- which is usually spent blogging, watching TV (I hate mindless zapping, but I love my handful of TV shows); reading, listening to music, and surfing the web. Sports are important to make up for the couch-hogging: Speedminton, rock climbing (though I have yet to climb actual rock), cycling (at least 10 km every day unless it’s raining), rollerblading, badminton, hiking, and -of course- scuba diving- that’s better than sex (sorry guys, get over it). Last but not least- travelling. I spent 9 months in Australia, where I had the best time ever and which really changed my life. My family and quite a lot of my friends are scattered all over Europe, so I never run out of places to stay on holidays. There’s still so many places and things I’ve yet to see (Norway, Ireland, Scotland, San Francisco, icebergs, northern lights, dolphins, whales) that it’s frustrating- there’s simply not enough time for everything. I love animals (if I hadn’t been a total loser in biology and chemistry class I’d probably be a vet right now), I hate vegetables, I actually like my job (most of the time, anyway)... and that’s about it.
MusicSomething out of everything- the only music styles I can rule out straight away are Drum 'n Bass, Jazz and German folk music (if you hear it you'll understand!). Favorite bands / singers: Morcheeba, Cake, Garbage (except the "Beautiful" album), The Offspring, U2, Pearl Jam ("10" & "Vs."), Over The Rhine, Dido, Pink, Dire Straits, Alanis Morissette (except "Under Rug Swept"), The Levellers, Café Quijano, Orishas, Louise Attaque (first album only), The Cardigans ("Gran Turismo" & "Super Extra Gravity"), Audioslave, Loreena McKennitt, Moby ("Play" & "18"), Fatboy Slim ("Long Way, Baby"), Led Zeppelin, Guns 'n Roses, The Prodigy, Kasabian, The Bravery, Godsmack, Mark Ronson. When going out I prefer black music and house, though.
MoviesIn alphabetical order: 21 Grams, Big Blue, Big Lebowski, Blues Brothers, Bowling For Columbine, Breakfast Club, Chicken Run, Eternal Sunshine On The Spotless Mind, Fargo, Fried Green Tomatoes, Keaton's General, Idiocracy, Life of Brian, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, LOTR, Monty Python's Holy Grail, Much Ado About Nothing, Pretty Woman, Pulp Fiction, Remember The Titans, Romeo + Juliet, Romeo Must Die, Some Like It Hot, Spiderman 1, Star Wars (the ORIGINAL ones! Not those truly crappy wish-George-Lucas-had-died-10-years-ago ones!!), Stardust, Straight Story, Thirteen Days, Thomas Crown Affair, Tootsie, Wallace & Gromit, X2... and those are only some of the movies I've given a full 10 points on IMDb. I could go on and on and on...
TelevisionIn alphabetical order: 24, Arrested Development (R.I.P.), Battlestar Galactica, Buffy (R.I.P.), Desperate Housewives, ER, Farscape (R.I.P.), Firefly (R.I.P. thanks to bloody f*cking Fox bastards!), Friends (R.I.P.), Grey's Anatomy, Heroes, How I Met Your Mother, Lost, Men in Trees, Reaper, SatC (R.I.P.), The 4400, The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, The L-Word, Third Watch (R.I.P.).

BooksTerry Pratchett's "Discworld" series, Patty Briggs' "Mercy Thompson" series, Follett's "Pillars of the Earth", "Third Twin" and "Hammer of Eden", George R. R. Martin's "Song of Ice & Fire", Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials", Robin Hobb's "Liveship Traders" trilogy, Tolkien's "Lord Of The Rings", most if not all novels by Marian Keyes (both funny and touching at the same time- read "Rachel's Holidays" or "Angels"!), "Widow for a Year" by John Irving, "Prince of Tides" by Pat Conroy, "Noble House" by James Clavell, the "Harry Potter" series, "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams (don't panic!), "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, "In a Sunburnt Country" by Bill Bryson, and the occasional comics ("Fables" by Willingham, "Runaways" by Vaughan, "Calvin & Hobbes" by Watterson), and countless other truly great books I've read over the past 28 years...
HeroesBasically, any writer of the a.m. books. Writing is an art, and as different as books get, I admire anybody who has managed to write something that makes his/her reader feel joy, pain, hate, love...

About me:
My sense of humor is the best thing about me; friends and family is everything; I'm half French and half German and I'm proud of that (like when the US government renamed "French Fries" as "Freedom Fries"); if I could choose I'd live in Sydney, Australia (greatest city ever); every time I get the hickups I'm scared they might not go away this time; I don't believe in regrets; and ... all in all, life's good. And I know that I don't actually have anything to complain about, but I won't let that stop me. ;-)

Oh, and I am worth $1,781,060 on HumanForSale.com A bargain, all things considered.

Who I'd like to meet:
Joss Whedon because how could I not love this funny, intelligent man; Clive Owen because how could I not drool all over him; Marian Keyes because she probably has a helluva sense of humor; George R.R. Martin because I want to kneel down and bow to him; my uncle because he passed away a while ago and it's still such a f*cking shame. AND I'd like to finally meet Jill and Lindsey (and have drinks with them) after all this time.

In the case that you might be interested, I posted a new blog about everything that's happened this year with me... It still doesn't explain everything (particularly the love stuff because too many people I know who know him can read it), but you know.. Hope all is well with you!

Okay, so what happened that you are (last I heard) in a seemingly good relationship, and I - the hopeless romantic - have become a cynic? Is it a case of Freaky Friday or something? I mean, my luck stays the same, but something else is fishy here...

Once upon a time, I knew this crazy, sarcastic German-French (French-German?) woman, who always talked about ruling the universe supremely... (And she would love Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog for that reason.... if she hasn't seen it yet.) Haven't heard from her in a while.. If you should run into her, would you let her know I said hi and just wanted to see how things are going? How's life and love and everything else?

Oh, the finale for SCC was really good. They better bring it back. I think you'll enjoy the ep "Vick's Chip" when you get to it. I have become a little obsessed with Lena Headey too. I didn't know her before this so I have been renting her movies. I recommend Twice Upon a Yesterday and Aberdeen. I think her interpretation of Sarah is great. And I like that her character is more of the focus and not John. And she and SG/Cameron have great chemistry. It's a very warped Lorelai/Rory relationship. She was a robot after all!

And IA, BSG is really, really good. One of the best Sci-Fi remakes ever. The two versions can stand on their own. I just rewatched S3 in prep for 4. I have some comments but will save them for when you're done. The movie they ran for hiatus which is a prequel [Razor] covering more on Caine and the Pegasus was great too. Be sure to catch that. The finale for S3 was a little mind blowing so let me know what you think. And S4 has been great too [how many times can I say great!?]. The best is it's being written as a conclusion so there isn't a lot of down time.

And TW I have seen. I watched it for most of it's run. I know you loved it and were patiently waiting the DVD. Well, it's here. Unless you already had it there. That happens sometimes. I hope they have the S2 premiere they ran in 2001 that was more of a documentary on 9/11. That was amazing and I should have taped it.

All is well here. Just very busy. I can't believe GG has been off the air for nearly a year now. If SCC comes back in the fall you should try and make it out to CA for the WB tour. The guides miss the GG fans.

Hey CB! I just picked up disc 1 of Third Watch from Netflix and thought of you. So big waves!

And I see Lindsey's post below talking about SCC [GREAT SHOW!] and how she is living in Lorelai's house. So strange! Especially when Summer Glau torched the robot in the garage.

So I concur about an EIJ reunion. Hope all is well.

So you should be proud. I watched tonight's episode of Connor Chronicles... First off, Jonathan Jackson looks hot! Second, I'm pretty sure the exterior of the house on it is the Gilmore's house.. It looks EXACTLY like it (plus a fence), and the show is apparently filmed at WB.. (All the more reason for an EIJ reunion, though it'd be hard to go back there and see all of the GG stuff torn down..) So that's kind of cool.. I also don't know who the guy was at the end of this episode (not Brian Austin Green - and I don't want to spoil it for you), but he was hot too... Summer Glau looks really pretty as well.. I guess they downplayed her looks a lot on Firefly since she was basically crazy... I think that's the problem with this cast - they're all good, I think, but they're too pretty.. Other than that, I don't have much to say... I really had NO idea what was going on..

I'll write more later!

Hey! It sounds like you had a nice birthday!

I'm doing OK. I just started a new job, so it's been very busy. Sorry I'm a little late responding to you. I'm still trying to settle in, but things (hopefully) are looking better.

Anyway, I remember reading your comments a while back about Stephen Colbert when he was trying to run in SC. I was living there at the time, but I was going to comment that I was voting for Obama instead.

Holy cow! I missed your Birthday? Shame on me!!!!

Happy Belated Birthday!!!

When are you going to post, again? It's been a while, hasn't it?
Lindsey

Feb 13 2008 3:54 AM

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Sorry this is so late.. Loooong day... School's been insane.. Hope you had a great one!!

I haven't watched Terminator, though I have thought about watching it... I just don't really watch much that's actually on TV right now.. Breaking Bad just started.. It's good, but it's not great yet... We'll see.. ABC is stupid and isn't showing DSM, which is their best show, I think.. If you do get a chance to watch it, make sure you watch past the pilot. I didn't like it at first (too much music - the usual ABC problem), but now it's a favorite.. I just downloaded all of the episodes, so I'm about to go back and watch the ones I missed... Other than that, I finally finished Buffy.. (I'm taking that class again. The only thing is that this time, it's Buffy, Angel, and - wait for it - Firefly!) I've been watching season 5 of Angel because I HAD to after seeing how Buffy ended. You really need to watch the rest of the seasons.. There were some awesome episodes, and it had sort of a cool ending... I actually think it got better overall as it went on... Spike became my favorite character.. Let's see... What else? How did you get into Wonder Woman? Because they're doing a remake?

Hey stranger! What's new?

I've got a new show for you.. Well, I've only seen the first half hour of the first episode, but so far, so good.. It doesn't hurt that it has Aaron Paul (I swear he and Kyle need to play brothers!) and Bryan Cranston... It's called Breaking Bad.. A bit of a Weeds show... So since there's not much on because of the strike (they need to end this - I need my Dirty Sexy Money!), you should check it out when you have time... Oh, and since I mentioned it, if you haven't already, you also need to watch Dirty Sexy Money.. Ahh, yes.. Kyle, Aaron, and Seth Gabel all need to play brothers because their acting (and sort of looks) are so similar, especially Aaron's and Kyle's... Of course, that would almost be too much for me to handle.. And on that note.... I'll be in my bunk. LOL

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Hope 2008 is so much better than 2007 for you!!

Also, I wanted to thank you again (and very late) for getting me into Playing by Heart.. I'm going through a Ryan Phillippe phase right now, and it totally helps that I already own this one.. I love his character in it! He and Joan were always my favorite storyline in the movie... Damn hot men and their tortured souls!

Nov 20 2007 6:30 AM

Oh yeah, and my Buffy class ended tonight. I'm sad. I really enjoyed it.. We only watched 6 episodes! I loved loved LOVED the musical though. I really didn't think I would (I only like select musicals generally), but I've been listening to it ever since... I'll continue watching it in my own time though.. I've still been going through the seasons. I just finished both parts of the first episode (well, first two episodes) of season 6.. I didn't like season 5 as much... I liked Joyce, but I thought it focused too much on her.. "The Body" was a brilliantly beautiful episode, but I cried like a baby when I watched it. I'm not sure if I'd ever be able to watch it again... I didn't care for the Glory thing either... I know a lot of people didn't like the last two seasons, but I'm interested to see where they go with it.. We watched two episodes in my class from season 6 - "Once More With Feeling" and "Tabula Rasa." I loved both of them.. (Spike! It's all about Spike!) And then tonight we watched "Storytelling." But anyway, I'm not sure if I told you, but the instructor actually wrote a book about Joss Whedon.. It's coming out next year... And she's doing another class in the spring, but it's going to be Buffy, Angel, and - wait for it - Firefly! She said that one will be about families, and we'll watch two episodes of each.. She's also a diehard Browncoat, so we pretty much talked about Firefly in every class. Should be interesting!

Anyway, what's new with you?
Lindsey

Nov 20 2007 6:20 AM

Wait, *I* am the evil one? The student has become the master? Does this mean I get your much coveted title of Supreme Ruler of the Universe? Don't worry. I'll make room for you!! What would you like to be?

Yeah, I'm just disappointed with Heroes altogether. I barely even pay attention to it anymore. It just bores me.. I don't care about any of the characters either... Peter has become nothing but a sex symbol. Last week I actually made a bet with my mom that they'd show him shirtless at least once in the episode.. I won, unfortunately... (Don't get me wrong. You know I love Milo. But this show is ruining him.) Sylar is the only one who remotely holds my interest, and he hasn't been in it much.. If it weren't for my damn loyalty, I'd tune out.. The last 10 seconds or so of tonight's episode were good, but other than that, I just don't care. It saddens me..

Still, it's cool that KB requested you. I know I didn't get a request from her! Then again, I know cooler actors and people than her.. LOL

Good to know CB. I really enjoyed the first 4 eps but have not seen the rest. I am sure I will watch anyway. And already all over Reaper. One of my fav shows this season. Pushing Daisies is another but more out of nostalgia since they are using some of the same lot locations GG used to use.
