Sounds Like
"A northern Ontario winter with spring just around the corner"
A talented singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist (guitar, dulcimer, banjo, ukulele) Collette Savard creates original music which combines elements of pop, folk, blues, jazz, and traditional songs, along with her own unique viewpoint. Born and raised in North Bay, Ontario, she now makes her home in Toronto where she works and performs with her partner; producer/multi-instrumentalist John Zytaruk ( Buck 65, William & Polly, Milie Croche.) Since the release of her 2005 debut CD "Most Improved Cheerleader" Collette and John have been entertaining audiences across Ontario and Quebec with their performances which involve them carting up to eight instruments to their gigs. Many listeners feel they sound like a full band even though they number only two on stage. This is probably due to the intricate arrangements, the constantly shifting sonic textures and the varied repertoire , the bulk of which features Collette's original song-writing but also includes choice covers of everything from old-time folk to George Gershwin, Robert Johnson, Warren Zevon, or even The Jackson Five rendered on dulcimer and acoustic guitar. Collette's second CD "Zen Boyfriend", released May 22nd 2008, again features all original material. This recording more closely relates the experience of the live show with an increased emphasis on acoustic instruments and intimate performances. Once again the production was handled by John Zytaruk. Collette is also in the early stages of working on another recording project, this one very near and dear to her heart; a collection of songs which will share all-Canadian themes. She also hopes to include some traditional music in this project, which will be reflective of her Franco-Ontarian roots.
