Colm Henry comes from Manor Kilbride in Wicklow, on the east coast of Ireland. He grew up in a household immersed in music, his father a guitarist, mother a singer, and a multi-instrumentalist older brother. Early musical studies saw him learning the trombone and later the piano under Nora Martin in Dublin. At 14 Colm joined the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland as trombonist - www.nyoi.ie
He soon realised that piano was to be his instrument of choice. Colm began to establish himself on the Irish music scene, playing with leading artists in the country's leading venues.
Colm graduated with first class honors from University College Dublin in 2005 with a Bachelor of Music degree. Upon graduating Colm began collaborating in writing and recording with sisters Ruth and Joyce O'Leary under the name 'Sephira'. Their critically acclaimed debut album, produced by Bill Shanley, was released in March 2006 and was followed by a successful Irish tour - www.sephira.ie
Since graduating Colm has also continued to pursue his interest in musiclogy. In 2006 his article entitled "Canonic Devices and Technique in Bach's Orgelbuchlein" was published in 'The Musiclogy Review', a leading Irish Musicological journal - www.musicologyreview.com
Colm has appeared many times on Irish National Television, including prime time chat show 'The Late Late Show' on RTE 1. His UK debut came when he played as part of the Irish crossover group Sephira as special guests for Irish supergroup Clannad for their their ten year reunion concert at the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow in 2007. The concert was televised by Irish National station TG4 and by the BBC.
During the summer of 2007 Colm worked as deputy musical director for the new Irish show 'Celtic Storm' which ran over three months in Dublin's Spirit Theatre - www.celticstorm.ie During 2007 Colm also worked with various Irish acts including Westlife, Tommy Fleming, Tony Kenny.
Throughout 2007 Colm worked extensively with the Dublin Gospel Choir, including live performances at Ireland's leading boutique music festival, 'The Electric Picnic' and live radio broadcasts on Irish National Stations Today FM, RTE 2FM and Newstalk106 - www.dublingospelchoir.com
2008 sees Colm joining the Celtic Tenors team as Musical Director for their Dutch and American tours - www.celtictenors.com. He is delighted to be performing alongside reknowned Irish guitarist Robbie Overson - www.robbieoverson.com and leading Irish Soprano Donna Malone.
