My influences stem from many different generations. First of all, my Mom and Dad used to party alot in their younger daze. My Mom, post divorce, used to throw these parties that included some of the baddest musicians in Texas, to include my cousin Joe Tex, Wayne Davis (one time drummer for Al Green), Geater Davis (remake of Jerry Butlers' "For Your Precious Love"), Uncle Brazil (harmonica blues God) and a host of others. My Dad used to throw his own parties in Houston on Saturday nights that not only included a hot game of Dominoes, but also the music of Joe Simon, Johnnie Taylor, The Dramitics(my favorite), Al Green, Barry White, Jackie Wilson, The Temptations, Betty Wright, Aretha Franklin and so, so, many more...My Older siblings were introducing me to greats like, EWF, O'jays, Minnie Riperton, Denise Williams, War, The Ohio Players, The Emotions and then came my time Prince, Rick James, Teena Marie (my favorite), Raydio, Cameo, Switch, Slave, The Time, Led Zepplin, Foriegner, Journey, Steely Dan, etc.

...Rob Anthony is at again, only this time, like you've never heard him before. Well, that's not entirely true. You may have heard glimpses of his creative lyrical content, innovative production skills, melodic baritone recitals, poetic metaphors, sultry eroticism and Spiritually moving depth on his last CD(Neo-Jasouloetry), BUT, that was just an introductory tease to what you are about to experience. Listen carefully, cause you just might miss something...
This new CD is entitled 'Personally Speaking...' for a reason. It gives the listener a direct line to into the mind of the artist. His serious side, His playful side, His spiritual side, His vulnerable side, His private thoughts, His personal demons, His secrets...but don't think he's just spelling it all out-that would be boring. What's entertaining about this CD is you know it's all in there but you got to read between the lines to get it all.
If reading between the lines is not your thing, then just sit back and listen to the intricate, yet delicate riffs that melodically flow from the keyboards and strings and subtly accent the rhythmic beats with life and vibrant fills reminiscent of a Barry White orchestrated composition.
There is something for everybody on this CD. Every song is different from the last and just as well written and performed. Houston's own Jazz vocalist Andrea B lends her captivating vocals on 'Spoken Word' and then playfully dazzles us with her R&B skills on 'Kinda Love I'd Like'. In a totally different genre, Slam Poet Champion, Queen D, from the Oakland/Sacramento area, takes the song 'Sally Wants...1n3' to a social apogee by delivering a powerful heartfelt rendition of her award winning piece "One and Three" at the end of the song. Then turns right around and shows the side of her that few people are ever privilege to see on the relationship based 'Make Up Sex'. And don't think Rob Anthony ain't gonna get erotic on you, just listen to 'I Thought Of You Today' parts 1 and 2, and you'll more than get your fill of seduction.
In addition to the aforementioned talents lending their skills to this CD, what makes this project such a success is that Rob teamed up with his longtime personal friend and music/engineer cohort, Jerry Blake, again. These two have been writing and producing music together longer than either one is willing to admit. In the early nineties, along with vocalist Andrea B, they all teamed up to write and arrange the debut LP for the then,international girls group New Attitude, under the now defunct record label Top Gun Records. From that debut LP came the radio play top ten 'You Can Get There From Here'. After some very shaky business dealings in the music industry and years of learning the business and honing their skills, the dynamic duo (sometimes trio when Andrea B adds vocal arrangements and lyrics)is back to doing what comes natural- Producing top quality songs. (Rumor has it- the next project will be a solo CD from vocalist Andrea B.)
