InfluencesCongratulations to The Brown Study Band (from ECU) for winning the State Finals of the National Campus Band Competition!! The band is now off to Canberra to battle it out against the top bands from campuses around Australia!

The State Finals were held at Hyde Park Hotel on October 4 and it was tight! The other bands competing that night were The Brow (Curtin), John and the Inverarities (UWA), The Killer Grapes (Curtin), Radio Empire (UWA), Kollective (ECU) and Homebrewe (ECU). Runners up were Radio Empire and John and the Inverarities, with Homebrewe winning the People's Choice Award!

Colosoul wants to congratulate ALL the bands who competed in the NCBC - you guys (and girls!) are all rockstars in your own way and we look forward to seeing you at the top in five years time!
Sounds LikeNEW COMPETITION:
Are you a young aspiring artist who would love to see their artwork splashed across the cover of one of Perth's hottest youth magazines? And not only for one issue but THREE?

If this sounds like you, then get out your pencils and put on your creative cap and design our cover for us! You will have to come up with three variations for each issue (which comes out every three months).

Send us your entries in both JPEG and high resolution format (ai or eps) to marketing@colosoul.com.au!

This is a great opportunity for you to showcase your artwork to the Perth community and you never know who could pick up this magazine!!

   About Colosoul Magazine
DEFINITION - Perth's latest independent local mag always on the look-out for the next best thing! Whether it's music, fashion, art or culture and lifestyle, we're there to cover it. We strive for perfection - not only will we be breaking the latest trends, but we will dare where no man (or woman) will. If there's a hot issue that noone else will touch, we'll touch it. If there's a truth that the X-Files haven't shown on TV, we'll find it.

To cut a long story short: WE'RE REAL. We're not WASTING our content on EGOTISTICAL, SELF-SERVING crap. We support our local community - we hold fundraising events that go back into worthy causes.

Previous people featured in our magazine include: THE PANICS, THE PANDA BAND, STORMY MILLS, OUTFIT FAUX, KARNIVOOL.

More to come in this issue: SCHVENDES, FELICITY GROOM, FAT FREDDIES DROP, CHE'NELLE NO. 1 (our Perth hip-hop beauty!), DAN BULL, JOSH PYKE

EXTINCTION SUCKS. That's right, it does. What does that have to do with Colosoul? This is a non-profit initiative to raise awareness that "EXTINCTION SUCKS" and Colosoul is great supporter of organisations where young people are making a significant difference in our community.

Emerging artists and designers: STOP HERE look no further! You are not forgotten by Colosoul - when there's an event, we like your name to be heard. Keep an eye posted on up-and-coming events and send an email of interest to us at INFO@COLOSOUL.COM.AU if you see anything you like and we'll call you back (promise!).

Pfft, I hear you say, so what? Well this is what! Colosoul isn't written by just anyone, it's written by people like you! Yes, young people! So, you say, how do I get to be involved with producing this innovative, totally original and revolutionary magazine?

If curiosity is getting the better of you, and you're wondering how you can get involved, get your fingers typing to INFO@COLOSOUL.COM.AU and tell us what tickles your fancy in this surreal world of WASTED CATCHPHRASES!

We don't discriminate, we're not superficial. BUT we are creative, entertaining and VERY relevant for today's young people! We don't believe in putting your personality in one box - we believe you deserve a say and you can be who you want to be.

SUBSCRIPTIONS@COLOSOUL.COM.AU - What does this get you? Well if you join our mailing list to receive COLOSOUL E-CATCH UP, you go in the draw to WIN a copy of the magazine, stickers and badges. But if you go one step further and subscribe to the magazine for $25 (this gets you four issues in one year!) you will get the first issue free (that means you get five for the price of four!).

So where can you get your frenzied fingers and inquisitive mind on an issue filled with unexpected suprises which is NOT A TWO MINUTE READ? Local newsagencies and selected stores near you! Check out our website for more details WWW.COLOSOUL.COM.AU but don't worry, we'll keep you posted!

Bands At Manjimup

Mar 21 2009 10:59 AM

Hey Colosoul people. Thanks for responding to our current Friends drive and adding Bands@Manjimup. We are doing this because we have a few really exciting events coming up like our concert, last night, featuring Elora Danan on their debut album tour, Manji prog rock band Ashoka and Perth ambient rockers Laced Affair. It was a high energy show with fantastic sound, and those who came got to meet the bands for more than an hour afterwards.

Next, we'll be hosting the biggest regional event in this year's WAMi Festival calendar, on 22nd May. For now we can talk only about the support acts: Abbe May, Sneaky Weasel Gang, Desert Radio and Ashoka. Following day some of them, led by Abbe, will feature as lecturers in our B@M Youth Muso Workshops, plus some leading musicians from even bigger bands. The headline act is not nailed down just yet so we can’t really tell you just now.

We'll keep you updated with bulletins and you may want to tap into the bands listed on our Top 40. You'll always find the performers at our next gig right up the top. At the other end you'll find bands that have recently played, followed by acts, who want to play at B@M. Send us a comment if you like them and they maybe get the go.

Bands that recently joined please check out our blog “The Deal for Bands” and send a comment to indicate you want to play here and we'll put you up on the Top 40. This may be temporarily, depending on demand.

The Dream of Music
By Sonia F Stevens©2001-2008

From childhood we all have music within us.

Dream of music to fill our lives'

Dream of music to fill our soul

Dream of Music of all varieties.

When we grow we all feel they rhythms of music within our life

Sadly most of forget how music filled our lives as we all tend to grow up and out of music.

The Dreamers keep all aspects of the music.

To others they follow the general flow and go to show the substance is a cash flow.

The Dream of music has been hidden.

Because of our families, we are all driven to go with societies flow.

No matter how it goes.

The dreams of music is never forgotten

Put in a cupboard of mind

And pressured to conform.

The Real dreamers are never forgotten. Their lives are filled with passion, Imagination and regeneration of music.

The note are formed

The keys are heard

The words are written and all is put together.

In heart, this music flows. To reach your ears, your body, your soul. The music has vibrations that will always grow within you. It matches your vibrations and then it reaches deep within you, you become apart of music and music becomes a part of you.
The Music, just like you, grows.

Man knows that music comes from deep within.

For Music dreamers have been around on from the beginning of time, right up till this very day.

Music Of dreams will always become a part of everyone's heart. This is where every woman, child and man knows', that this is part of everyone's dream. This is where Music and Dreams become one.

Each person feels the music, his or her own way. Each person feels the belonging of music. Each being feels.
This is where music really grows.
